Nina leaned against the wall near the front door, eventually sitting against it as she cried. She sat there for hours, in her own unpleasant world. Eventually, Inej came home, carrying a stack of library books.
"Nina? Are you alright? What happened?" Inej asked, placing the books on the floor and sitting beside her.
"Somehow... the police found him. They arrested him." Nina wiped a tear, her eyes red from the crying.
"Oh... oh saints, I'm so sorry, Nina." Inej wrapped an arm around Nina.
Nina leaned against Inej's shoulder, "They're not giving him a trial or anything."
"They can't do that." Inej scoffed, "I know someone who has connections to the government, he can help us figure this out."
"Is it your mysterious boyfriend?" Nina teased, lightening the mood.
Inej rolled her eyes, "C'mon, let's get you off the floor. Do you wanna go out for waffles?"
Nina agreed, and the two spent the rest of the day eating waffles and plotting Matthias' great escape.
