The trees rippled from the light breeze that filled the air with its quiet whispers. The lake shivered and pebbles scattered onto the bank. The breeze nipped at the ears of three cats who trotted onto the Twoleg path that lay beside it.

The smallest one, a white tabby, was leading the other two to the edge of the lake. The larger cat, a tom with a handsome figure, amber eyes, and a dark, black pelt, was padding beside the white tabby. The final one, an average-sized she-cat, had a light pelt that looked almost yellow in the harsh moonlight, and she was following the two, a few tail lengths behind them.

The white she-cat spun around and began to speak.

"The forest is in danger," she finally said, turning to face the other two cats. Worry filled her voice, and she flicked her tail anxiously. Her ears perked at the slightest sound.

"We must send a sign to ThunderClan," the larger one murmured with disbelief. The other two nodded in agreement.

"Good thinking, Shadestorm," the light-pelted cat chirped. She turned to face the small white cat. "Icefang," she began, "What shall we do?" Her green eyes glimmered beneath the moon.

Icefang hesitated for a moment. Memories of the battles she had witnessed crept through her mind like a cat stalking a mouse. Blood filled her senses, and it felt impossible to breathe. She shook her head. We must let go of the past, she told herself, we must focus on the present and future. These cats are in extreme danger.

"Yes, very well, Ivyleap," she managed to choke out. "We shall send a sign to Brookstar, but we cannot reveal too much. StarClan cannot tell these cats what lies ahead." The other two nodded, but she could sense anxiety in their pelts.

Ivyleap stepped forward and mewed quietly. "The eye of the storm will keep them safe for now..."

Shadestorm trotted to her side with unease. He continued, "...until a cat from within will destroy the safety wall..." Icefang padded next to them, knowing she was the last one to speak.

"Unless they find a way to take shelter from the storm."
