Year 7 Chapter 1: Summer of Swordplay

Author's note: I apologize for taking so long on this chapter. But hopefully, you enjoy it.

Jacob and I came off of the Hogwarts express for the summer and mum was waiting for us. I saw Penny and hugged her goodbye.

"Write to me, ok." I said as I kissed her on the lips.

"Every week." Penny said as she let go of my hand to take her trunk to her mom's muggle car.

"Love you." I called.

"Love you more, Lucas." Penny called back as she and her parents took off.

"Be safe." I said to myself as Mum and Jacob walked behind me and Mum wrapped her arms around me.

"Mum." I laughed, embarrassed as she let go.

"How was your year, not counting these last few weeks." Mum asked, to which I shrugged at.

"Honestly with everything that happened, I really don't want to talk about it."

"That's ok. I know that Rowan's death hit you pretty hard." Mum explained. "But, he will still be with you. Just like dad."

"I know." I said, sniffling a little bit as I put my trunk in the car. "Other than that my year's been pretty good."

"I trust you stayed out of trouble." Mum asked changing the subject a little.

"Yes, but now that there's a death cult led by a literal demon out to destroy the world, I think we're way past trying to get me to stay out of trouble." I explained

"You've got that right." Jacob added as we drove home.

A few days later; I started my battle training with Jacob in the big backyard. We first started with Elemental spells, I already knew incendio; we decided to focus on the other elements and expand to other fire spells.

"There's something I don't understand." I inquired Jacob as I shot a bolt of lightning out of my wand at a training dummy.

"Yeah?" Jacob asked.

"I saw Dryvan make this purple and black fire when we were dueling."

"Yeah, I noticed that too."

"I wonder what that is, because from my research on fire spells it kind of looks like Protago Diabolica."

"How...oh, yeah. Dumbledore gave us those DADA and charms books to help you."

"Yeah, those were extremely helpful."

"I might have to ask him what spell can counteract spells like that." I explained as I shot another lightning spell.

After a couple hours of training; Mum called Jacob and I in.

"I need to also find a way to battle him sword-wise, those shadow warriors and that sword really pack a punch." I explained as we walked into the kitchen.

"Seemed like it, sorry I couldn't help." Jacob Apologized.

"I know someone who might be able to help." Mum explained.

"Really? Who?" I asked.

"Do you remember your uncle John?" Mum asked. I shrugged my shoulders.

"I do," Jacob said. "He's our uncle from America, am I correct?

"Yes, you'd be right." Mum answered as as she took another sip of tea.

"I hope he knows." I whispered under my breath.

"We'll probably see if he does." Jacob answered, hearing what I was saying.

They will be here after your birthday to train you." Mom explained.
