Author's note: I apologize for taking so long on this chapter. But hopefully, you enjoy it.
September 1st
I was packing my stuff for Hogwarts as I looked at my sword in its sheath leaning against the wall.
"This year, I'll find out who or what you are." I said to myself as I gripped my dragon charm and grabbed my sword. Unsheathing it a little, I noticed a message written in Japanese. "Heart of a lion, Soul of a dragon." I read as I put it in a pocket of my trunk.
I went downstairs with my trunk and saw Mum making a cup of tea. "Are you ready for your final year?" She asked as she took a sip.
"Yes." I said as I pocketed my wand, pinned on my Head Boy badge and sat down at the table for a good breakfast.
An hour later, we stopped by my dad's grave. "Hey, Dad, today starts my last year at Hogwarts. I wish you were here with us. It's not the same without you." I admitted as I conjured up a bundle of flowers to place next to the grave.
"He'd be proud of you, Lucas." Mum explained as she put her hands on my shoulders.
Jacob walked up to the grave in his panther Animagus form and transformed. "It's me he would be disappointed in." Jacob said.
"You haven't disappointed him, Jacob." I argued.
"I left both of you when you guys needed me the most, so YES I HAVE!" Jacob shouted.
"Jacob Cutter, you listen to me. Yes, you left, and at the time, I was angry with you. But all that matters now is that you're here right now, do you understand?" Mum explained.
"Yes, Mum." Jacob said as we all hugged.
At 10:00, I made it to the wall between platforms 9 and 10. "You ready?" Jacob asked, putting a hand on my trolley. I gave a stiff nod and we both charged at the barrier.
As always we went through and saw the scarlet steam engine ready to be boarded.
"Well, I'll see you later." Jacob said, hugging me goodbye.
"See yah."
"Goodbye, Lucas." Mum said, also hugging me. "I love you, be safe."
"Love you too, Mum." I explained. "And I'll do my best."
I walked through the train compartments trying to find Penny, many students were taking their seats, including many circle members. As I continued to walk towards her compartment, I ran into Barnaby.
"Hey, Barnaby." I said.
"Oh, Hey Lucas." Barnaby greeted.
"How was your summer?" I asked.
"Oh, it was great. My gran and I went to India. I met some really nice people, although not many magical creatures." Barnaby explained. Surprisingly, Barnaby was blushing when he mentioned he met people.
"Ok, then. I got to meet Penny, so, see ya." I said, waving goodbye.
"See ya." Barnaby said as I walked towards Penny's compartment.
Penny was in her compartment thinking about her summer. Over the course of the summer, Beatrice had started to come out of her emo phase and started to be a lot more bubby and excited, though acting her age, and she was on great terms with Penny; unfortunately, their father thought Penny could do better. When I opened her compartment door, Penny stood up and ran right into a hug from me.
"Wow, you've gotten muscular." She said as she grabbed my hand.
"You like it?" I asked as I sat down. Penny sat on my lap and kissed me on the cheek.
