My desk was next to Lt. Hank Anderson, my uncle. I guess the whole run in the family career was an understatement. I wondered if Cole was still alive, he too would've probably become a detective.
Scrolling through the case files, my mind wandered off. Hank wasn't here yet, and that rumor of him having an android as a detective with the deviants' case. I wondered what the android looked like; my eyes wandered to my sketch book. It was in my purse; I took it out whenever I had free time to draw. I pulled it out and flipped to an open page, the android that I saw the other day filled my memory.
Pulling out a pencil, I crawled over the page. Trying to remember the details of his features. As Tina and Gavin put it, I had been looking at him for an "hour." So, I hope that I would remember everything, the small bump of his nose, the freckles that were scattered around his face, the way his hair was slicked back with a tuff falling over. It was quite cute, those damn dark brown eyes.
" Detective?" I jumped, pushing my sketchbook close to my chest. My face was bright pink, I looked up. It was the same android, I prayed to whatever god was out there that they would make sure that the android didn't see what I was doing. " Do you know when Lt. Anderson arrives?"
" Just depends where he was the night before. He'll probably arrive soon," I explained. He nodded a smile that was probably built into his programming. Although, it did make my heart skip a beat. I watched him walk over to Hank's desk to take a look.
I looked back down at my sketchbook, taking an opportunity to sketch him from the back view. His shoulders were very stiff, I wasn't that surprised. I could tell that he was analyzing the things on the desk. He picked up a photo that Hank had on his desk of me and Cole when we were younger. I was about 28 and Cole was two, I missed those days.
The android turned towards me, I turned the sketchbook away from his view, " You're related to Lt. Anderson?" I nodded; the smile I gave him earlier still plastered on my face.
" I'm his niece." He shifted over to a chair, I motioned to come over to me. He pushed the chair over to my desk, "Any questions you have that Hank probably won't answer?"
"I feel like I should introduce myself before I go and ask you questions about my partner. My name is Connor the android sent by Cyberlife."
" So, what exactly do you do, Connor?"
" I assist detectives in investigations."
" Interesting, what's else?"
" You mean what can I do?" I nodded, he seemed to be in thought for a moment before answering.
" I can take samples in real time; I know combat; anything to assist." I listened intently, biting the inside of my cheek. " Can I ask a personal question, detective?"
" Shoot?"
" Shoot?" he repeated, confused. I sighed, remembering that androids don't really understand slag.
" Go ahead, ask away."
" What is your relationship like with Lt. Anderson?"
" We're close, I lived with him when I was in college and when I first moved to Detroit."
" You didn't grow up around here?"
" No, I grew up on the more southern end of the Midwest, like right on the border between south and Midwest. Does that make any sense?" He nodded, before asking.
He continued to ask me personal questions about me. I was a bit flattered that he was interested in me more than just a co-worker speaking to another. Then, Hank walked into the station and towards his desk. " Goodmorning, Lieutenant."
