Y/n rushed into the bathroom of the Zoo, attempting to find the staff toothbrush packs and toothpaste dispenser. She rummaged through her bathroom locker, finding some spare undergarments and body wash.

Y/n stripped her clothes and headed off into the shower, washing herself. Her mind wandered to what she was going to have for breakfast, and then back to Mort. She rubbed her skin with the body wash, as it bubbled up.

"That lemur. That damn lemur is all I can think about."

Y/n quietly said to no one in particular.
At this time, it was about 7:30am, meaning zookeepers would start coming in. So y/n quickly got out, drying herself off with a clean towel and got on her clothes for the day.

She stood in front of the bathroom mirror, carefully fixing her hair and patting down any fly-aways, trying to look presentable and out together after that strange night. All she could think about was Mort's buff, tall figure. His curved waist and defined muscles, the ways his bright, glowing yellow orbs danced around when he spoke. There was something about him. Something different.

Y/n finished placing her hair into a tight ponytail at the top of her hair, moving her head rapidly from side to side to see her hair swish sturdily. Her h/c hair bounced as she walked, almost making her feel better about herself. She walked out of the bathrooms, to be greeted by the same two people that had gotten attacked by Mort the other day.

"Hello guys, how can I help you today?"

Y/n spoke, putting on a weak smile to hide her back pain from sleeping on the cold, hard concrete all night.

"Hey! We just wanted to say thank you for yesterday. La chancla was no match for the Mighty Mort."

The black haired person spoke, looking up to Y/n and then back to her friend, the blonde standing next to her.

"Yeah, thanks for that. I just wanted a picture for reference to draw him, he looked kinda cool."

The blonde spoke, scratching the back of his head awkwardly as he looked back up at Y/n.

"Yeah! Uh, sorry about that, again. Morts he's here and he isn't settling in quite well, I suppose he needs to get used to the Zoo's protocols. Here, I'll give you these free Zoo passes. They last all year. Thank me later, you two!"

Y/n cheered, as she saluted to the pair and ran off towards the Care & Aid Centre, with the intention of maybe letting Mort out.

Y/n arrived at the centres glass sliding doors, peering in at the now slumped over Mort as he lay asleep on the carpet inside.

Y/n walked up to the door, still locked, and knocked on the glass lightly, alerting the buff lemur to get up from his spot and acknowledge his soon to be lover.

"Hey Morty. How ya feeling?"

Y/n said, putting her hands on her hips and waiting for the animals answer.

"I'm all good, baby. Just a bit tired, ya'know?"

Mort replied, rubbing his massive eyes as he faced Y/n intensely.

"Why're you tired? Didn't you get any sleep?"

Y/n questioned, hands still fixed on her hips.

"Too busy watching you sleep all night, gorgeous."

Mort winked, crossing his arms, indicating he wanted to fight, but that's besides the point.

"I— what? Mort, you can't be doing that. I slept here all night, making sure you slept and didn't disturb the other animals and all you did was watch me?"

Y/n said, trying to be stern but failing miserably as her eyes met Morts, making her go as red as a tomato.

"You sure that's the only reason you slept near me, doll?"

Mort said. What a sleaze.

"EuGH. You wish it was for more, Lemur Boy. Anyhow, we gotta get back to the enclosure. You good with that? Will you be a good boy?"

Y/n said, walking towards the key slot that she could slide her keys into to unlock the glass sliding doors that Mort was stuck behind.

"I will be a good boy, I promise, mommy."

"What was that?"

"Nothin'."

About 3 hours had passed, and Mort had managed to beat up 10 kids in the space of 10 minutes. He was on probation in the animal time-out sanctuary, but that didn't stop him from asserting battle on the other guards.

The only guard he was calm around was Y/n. He wouldn't try anything on her except cheesy pickup lines you'd hear in a wattpad story. Overall, she was his main keeper because of this.

Y/n had finished up for the day, and started cleaning out Maurice's potty as she was approached by a familiar face. The short girl tapped her on the shoulder, yet again.

"Hi, Y/n! Im sorry we didn't properly meet the other day. I'm Laura, and I'm helping out with the Capybaras. I've come to you because Boss wants to see you. I wouldn't look forward to it if I was you!"

The girl chuckled, running back towards yet another set of familiar faces. Lara, the coffee shop worker, aka Zoe and the two people that had gotten beaten up by Mort yesterday were walking out together, leaving only Y/n, Boss and the animals in the zoo.

Y/n hesitantly left the lemur enclosure and locked it up behind her, carrying her backpack on her back as she jogged towards the head offices. She turned a corner and saw the office.

BOSS

It read, a sign atop the brown door. Y/n knocked, getting a croaky sounding voice to shout back "Come in!"

"Hey boss!! What'd you.. uh.. need me for?—"

Y/n whimpered at the thought of losing her beloved job, not to mention being away from Mort.

"Hey, Y/n. It's come to my attention that you and our newest animal member have formed a special and respectful bond. We have had a meeting, and it's decided that you'll take Mort home, just for a week, to see if his anger settles down. If not, we will euthanise him. This is a must, it's not negotiable, unless you don't want your job of course. We've sent an animal care package to your house, so you're all set. Mort is waiting by your car with concierge around him. Thanks, now please go home."

"What..? Yeah—- ok.. will do.. thanks..?-"

Y/n was at a loss for words. She couldn't comprehend her thoughts. Mort was coming home with her, oh my gosh.

Y/n rushed to her car, finding all the short ways around the Zoo to get there. She saw two men in suits with her beloved Mort in the cage, sleeping. They put his cage in her back seat, and she buckled her seatbelt, stepping on the gas towards her small home.

How was Y/n going to cope with a lemur at her house, let alone Mort? Is this a curse, or a blessing in disguise..?
