All of them were thrown into the slammer that night. Both Mort and Y/n had been put into a cell separate from Alvin, giving them some alone time before the guards decided who would go into the room for questioning first.

They could hear the loud banging noise coming from Alvin's cell down the end of the passage, his large fist sounding on the cold, hard metal bars.

Mort pat Y/n's hair quietly, giving her time to become calm and collected after bawling her eyes out prior.

"Y/n, baby, you're gonna be okay. We'll get him. Don't worry. He's guilty."

"N-no Mort... I'm-I'm guilty. You k-know that."

Y/n said, getting out of Morts light grasp and walking to the bars of the jail cell they were stuck in.

"Listen- Y/n.. I-I know you're.. uh.. You didn't mean it. Don't blame yourself."

Morts reassuring words brought Y/n back to her senses, as she walked back over to the melancholy lemur that had sat himself down on the stone bench.

She sat down next to him, embracing his warmth in the cold, hard, cement filled jail cell. She looked up at him, too many emotions filled the both of their eyes. Y/n placed her hand atop Morts cheek, caressing it ever so slightly. She lightly pecked Morts fluffy cheek, as he blushed very obviously, looking back down at her short figure.

"Thanks, Morty. For everything."

Y/n said, as she was escorted out of the jail cell by two policemen to be questioned.

Y/N's POV: (finally)

I walked into the cold room, sitting down on the brown, wooden chair that faced a table and a stern looking officer sat across from the chair. He invited me in nicely, before the two policemen closed the heavy door behind us. I took a seat at the chair, still looking at the man with my red, puffy eyes.

"Hello Ms L/n. Thank you for cooperating so well with under these unfortunate circumstances."

The man spoke, in a sweet but stern and manipulative manner.

"Hello Mr..."

"Mr Naneek."

The man corrected me.

"Mr.. Naneek, sir. Yeah... not too great.. circumstances. Are you gonna a-ask me questions..?"

I said, sniffling.

"Yes i am. Now, let's give this a start, shall we? Ahem, were you the one that contacted the police?"

"No."

"Do you know who did?"

"No, sir."

"Alright. What's your relationship with Alvin T. Chipmunk?"

He said, as he looked back down at the piece of lined paper he was writing all of my answers on and ticking things off as he went.

"He is my ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend."

"And.. Mortdecai M. Mafioso?"

"Um.. B-boyfriend...?"

Y/n stuttered. What she didn't know, though, was that Mort had knocked out most of the policemen and guards, and was listening into their conversation.

'Boyfriend..? I..'

Mort thought, but was interrupted when he heard the other man's voice start to speak.

"Okay, and, if you're aware of course, why did the following events occur tonight?"

"Um.. Okay.. I-I... I had to take Mort home from the zoo, as he was on probation. We had this... special bond, that my boss noticed. So... Y'know, I took him home and whatever, and my Abusive ex of 10 years, Alvin, kept calling me. Id already broken up with him so there wasn't much more I could do. When he broke in that night... Mort starting saying.."

But Y/n stopped herself. She couldn't reveal Mort's secret, even if she didn't know what it was herself. The guard lifted an eyebrow up in confusion and started again.

"Saying what? Hm?"

Mr Naneek said, getting more intrigued by the minute.

"He-he.. um.."

Just then, Mort barged through the door, after a reckless amount of minutes trying to break in. Dozens of guards attempted to detain him but to no avail, after his mighty and beafy attacks.

Y/n turned around, immediately running up to her saviour and falling into his open arms.

"Baby- We gotta go, now."

Mort said sternly, grabbing Y/n's wrist and starting towards the door as Mr Naneek called for backup security. There were sirens going off everywhere, and it didn't help that the two of them had just rushed through the fire safety exit. Alvin was still stuck in his probation cell, screaming his lungs off and begging for mercy, which was obviously false. Though, no one was sure who he was begging to. There were no guards around, after all, thanks to Mort and his fists.

Y/n thought to herself, as she and Mort ran deep into the cold night, heading towards the zoo.

'And I ran. I ran so far away. And I ran. I ran all night and day.'
