i smile into the kiss, pulling back for air. "kinda cringe." i say, smiling. hailee laughs, moving her hands to my cheek. "wanna stay here tonight?" i ask. hailee smiles, nodding. "if it's okay with you." she says, moving closer. "of course." i say, pecking her lips.
i lay my head on hailee's lap as she half sits-half lays down on my bed, legs dangling off the side of the bed. "how are all your clothes so comfy? i wish i had clothes as comfortable this." hailee says. i chuckle, and hailee places her hand on my head, softly stroking my hair. "you can have my whole closet." i say, and hailee smiles. i pull out my phone, going on twitter. scrolling for a bit, i come across a video of hailee and i at the beach, me sleeping on top of hailee. the paparazzi zoom in, basically getting my ass in the shot. i furrow my eyebrows, and hailee makes eye contact with the camera, and she quickly pulls the towel on top of me. "thanks, hailee." i say. "no problem." she says. scroll to the comments, reading them. 'hailee putting the towel on y/n stop😭' 'i'm determined they're dating' 'i'm so invested in these two' 'WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT Y/N LITERALLY LAYING ON TOP OF HAILEE?!' i smile, turning my phone off.
"y/n..." hailee whispers, both of us facing each other on our side. "hm?" i say, raising my eyebrows. "you know how we kissed," she says, pausing. "no, i don't remember, we did?" i say, sarcastically. she smiles, continuing. "are we together?" she asks. "or was it just like- a kiss, or multiple- mean, we don't have to be together if you don't want to, i'm not forcing you to date me, that'd be weird." she rambles. "i like you, hailee." i say, smiling. "seriously?" she says. "yeah, seriously. i really like you." i say, and a smile forms on hailee's face. "so... are we together?" she asks nervously. "yeah, i'd like that." i say, smiling back. "me too." she says, and i lean in, kissing her.
"are you gonna tell your family later on?" i say, and hailee thinks. "yeah, later. how about you? you don't really talk about your parents now that i think of it." hailee realises. "they... aren't in my life- anymore." i say, turning to face the ceiling. "why? you don't have to answer if you don't want to, of course." she says, moving closer to me. i sigh, starting to talk. "well, 6 years ago, i realised that i liked girls and boys. after not telling my parents for months, i finally had the confidence to. i called them to the table, and told them. i regret it now... they took it in the worst way possible, like i committed all the crimes in the world. 'why don't you just like boys?' 'girls are just meant to like boys' 'it's a phase, y/n.' they would say to me, and every day since then they would try and get me to like boys, and i got so sick of it, i moved out, bringing everything i could. moved states, dropped their contact numbers, got a new number. and... this brings me here." i say, and hailee nods. "i'm sorry, y/n. you don't deserve those parents." she says. "it's fine... it's life." i say, and hailee lays her head on my chest, laying on top of me. "i'm here for you, okay?" she reassures. "yeah, i'm here for you too. always."
a week later
we get on the all familiar coach, hailee sitting down, and i sit next to her, jill in front. "morning, jill." i say, and she smiles, waving as the turns around. "so... you two dating now, huh?" jill says with a smirk. hailee smiles, nodding. "knew it from the start!" she says, clapping her hands as she turns around to the front. i look at hailee and she smiles. hailee pouts her lip, and i move closer, kissing her for a second, before pulling away. "nice lip balm." i say, and hailee smiles. "you too." she replies. i lay my head on hailee's left shoulder, pulling out my phone. i smile at my lock screen, swiping to instagram. i go to the camera, flipping it the other way to show hailee and i. hailee looks down, smiling at the camera. i poke my tongue out, pointing it upwards in the direction hailee's in, raising my eyebrows. i take the photo, saving it. "last show until a while baby" i write, placing the text in an empty spot.
i open the hotel door, standing to the side, letting hailee in. she rolls the suitcases in, looking around. i close the door, starting to walk to the balcony when i finished checking out the bathroom. i open the sliding door, stepping out. i turn around and see hailee jog out, and i slide the door closed behind her, looking at the view. hailee leans against the railings and i walk behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist, laying my head on her shoulder as she holds my arms with her hands. "nice view, huh?" she says. "yeah, you pick amazing hotels." i say. "manager, you mean. and i agree." she says as she leans her head back, closing her eyes. "are you okay?" i say, tilting my head towards her. "yeah, i'm good." she says. i smile, giving her a kiss on the neck before looking out at the view again. after a few minutes, i turn my head, giving hailee a kiss on the neck. "that tickles." she says. "you don't like it?" i say, and hailee shakes her head. "i do, i didn't say that i didn't!" "but you said it tickles." "doesn't mean i don't like it." she says, moving forward towards the balcony.
i separate my hands and hailee turns around, leaning her back against the balcony. she looks down at my hands, holding both of them. "i don't wanna make you uncomfortable, hailee. if you're uncomfortable with anything i do, you tell me, yeah?" i say, and she nods understandably, softly pulling me closer. "of course, my love." she says, smiling as she pulls my arms behind her, and i connect both my hands. "added 'my' in front of it, i like it." hailee lets go, wrapping her arms around my neck. i stare into her deep brown eyes, smiling. hailee turns around and looks down at the view, before unwrapping her hands around my neck rather quickly. "we should get ready for dinner, adam and jill said to be out in an hour." hailee says while walking in. my eyebrows raise, staring at the ground for a second. what just happened?
i open the door, about to step out when adam's standing in front of me, hands in a fist, ready to knock on the door. "good timing." he says, chuckling. i smile, stepping out, adam standing to the side. "where's hailee?" he asks, leaning against the door. "she's coming." i say, and hailee walks out, pulling the door in. "hey guys!" jill says, closing her door as well. we walk to the carpark after getting out of the elevator, hailee driving, me in the passenger and adam and jill in the back. hailee starts the car, driving out of the carpark. "where are we even going to eat?" jill asks. "it's a surprise." hailee says, turning left.
we get out of the car, and walk to the restaurant. i open the doors for everyone, closing it after myself to keep the cold air out. we get a table for 4, and i sit down next to hailee, jill across from me. jill hands me the menu and i smile, looking through it. i end up picking pappardelle pasta looking at hailee. "what're you getting?" i ask, slightly leaning towards her. she stares at the menu, blankly. "i'm not hungry, i feel kind of sick if i'm being honest." she says, looking at me. "why? are you okay?" i ask, and she smiles slightly. "yeah, i'm okay. just not hungry." she says. "okay, if that's what you want." i say, smiling back.
we eventually get our food, and i twirl the first strands of pasta on my fork, lifting it up. i move the fork in the direction of hailee, tapping her thigh. "try some?" i say, and she shake her head with a sympathetic smile. "please, try some, h." i say. she opens her mouth in defeat, and i gently put the fork in her mouth. she closes the fork over her mouth, pulling off the pasta in one motion. i take the fork out of her mouth, looking at hailee for approval.
she smiles, nodding. "it's good." she says, and i smile back, twirling another fork. "want more?" i say, and she shakes her head. "you eat your dinner, y/n." she says. i nod, eating my food.
i look at the plate that's three quarters done, and i twirl a fork, placing it in front of hailee's mouth. "have another if you want." i say. she opens her mouth, leaning forward. i take the fork out, pushing the plate to her side. "have the rest, i'm full." i say, and hailee shakes her head. "why not?" i ask. "you eat it." she says. "i told you i'm full, steinfeld." i say. "if you're gonna give me the rest of your food... can you feed it to me?" she says. i smile, twirling some pasta on the fork. i feed it to hailee, smiling. "what a baby." i say to hailee, smiling.
