"A fine masterpiece, if I do say so myself." Damien boasted, gushing at the outfit he'd managed to throw together for me.
I rolled my eyes, barking a laugh when I caught Aurelia doing the exact same thing. She's not the type, but you know that you're flaunting your feathers too much if even she finds it obnoxious.
"If it wasn't a masterpiece then you'd be out of a job," she muttered, elbowing him to the side to fiddle with my hair one last time before deeming it perfect. "You do look stunning though. Most certainly a Grammy winner's wife." She said with a fond smile.
I turned and looked at my appearance in the mirror. My jaw went slack. Those two certainly were a dream team with regards to fashion, that much was certain.
My strawberry blonde locks were styled half up half down with a diamond studded comb keeping it all in place. Damien had put together an outfit that was worthy of the red carpet. Black spandex high waist pants with leather pockets that hugged my curves accompanied with a thick belt that made my waist look extra small and a black sequenced top with one thin strap and one plain long sleeve that was connected to an onyx ring on my middle finger. Open toe black heels gave me more height and the chosen accessories had been diamond hoop earrings with a velvet choker that had a diamond pendant hanging in the center.
My cousin doesn't get all the credit though. Aurelia had done my hair, a style with which I'm quite pleased with, and she'd done my makeup as well. Silver dusted my eyelids, the black liner leading to a small wing that made my eyes pop. Just a hint of blush on my cheeks, enough to appear natural and then to finish it all off, a deep wine red lipstick to look luscious and teasing.
I smiled, dragging them both into a hug. "Thank you so much. For everything." I felt tears pricking at my eyes, the simplest of acts making me emotional.
"Anything for you, Katherine." Damien replied before pulling back and raising his finger, brows knit. "Nope, no tears allowed. No smudging my masterpiece." He scolded, making me giggle and nod.
"Yes sir!"
I grabbed my clutch purse and phone, checking the time before motioning for them to follow me, a playful smirk teasing at my lips. "Let's go. The concert is waiting."
Not just the concert, I thought to myself as we drove to the event hall. Adrien was waiting as well. And he might not know it yet, but there were a few surprises in store for him in his near future.
I could only smile.
As fate would have it, having a famous designer cousin does have its perks. Just as Damien had wanted, I made heads turn when we went to take our seats in the VIP section. I walked with confidence and pride at being at my husband's concert, supporting him, knowing the media were widespread throughout the hall and would be watching our every move.
They had doubts about our relationship? Well then, I guess I'd just have to prove them all wrong and give them a real story worth reporting.
"You seem awfully smug tonight," Damien remarked, arms crossed. "What are you planning, Red?"
I schooled my features into innocence and drew an imaginary halo above my head. "I feign ignorance," I said sweetly.
My cousin snorted. "Yeah right. You're up to something."
"I agree." Aurelia piped up. I shot her a look of mock betrayal, making her shrug. "It's true. You're vibrating in your seat. It's clear you're plotting something."
Can you believe it? My closest allies are now suspecting me of something. How traitorous.
I flipped my hair, looking at the stage as the opening song began and replied snarkily, "You're right. A heist."
