"I take it you've heard."
I tore my eyes away from the tablet in my hands and saw Jeff leaning on the wall next to me. I'd been scheduling a few meetings for the rest of the week and reading through some of my emails, but upon hearing Jeff's words, my brows furrowed in confusion.
"Heard of what exactly?"
He shrugged and unzipped his bomber jacket, wiggling out of it before discarding it on the empty chair next to me, the warmth in the practice room too pressing for him to handle.
"The boys are shooting their music video soon. In a few days to be specific."
"Oh, that? Yes, I've heard. I'm married to the leader, remember?" I stated casually as I returned my attention to the tablet screen.
"It's not so much that part that I'm curious about."
Jeff had this tone in his voice, something that border lined the tone of someone that knew something you didn't, like he was honestly curious yet smug with knowledge at the same time, so I folded my one arm over the other as they rested on my legs, the tablet held in one hand and dangling in my grip, and leaned forward, giving Jeff my full attention.
"Alright, you clearly know something, so spill it. I'm all ears."
He smiled, almost triumphantly, before answering.
"So, here's the deal, darling," I rolled my eyes at the nickname which made him chuckle before continuing, "It's a love song, as I'm sure you're aware of, so the atmosphere of the music video has to be romantic, right?"
I nodded.
"Way for stating the obvious, Jeff." I muttered. This was going nowhere. I could've finished working through my last emails so that I could've had a nice relaxing evening, a long bath and maybe, just maybe, I could've binge watched a few episodes of the new telenovela that Aunt Mimi recommended over a phone call a few days ago. I was skeptical at first, but the story line was rather good. Fine, so maybe the neighbourhood grandma was starting to rub off on me. Now there's a scary thought.
I was pulled out of my lovely fantasy when Jeff snapped his fingers in front of my face to get my attention.
"Earth to Katherine! You still with me?"
Exasperated, I lightly slapped his hand away.
"Yeah, yeah, I am, now get to the point, Jeff, I've got things to do."
"Fine, no need to be so crabby. A love song, right? Well, it's a band of three guys, what will they do? Shoot a love music video about each other? Last time I checked, they all bat for the same team and it's rather straight."
Now, that was interestingly put.
"They need a model. A female role. And auditions are tomorrow."
Okay. Logically it made sense. But what the heck does that have to do with me?
Realizing that I wasn't going to get any work done, I put the tablet away and turned my attention to the boys working on their choreography, not sparing Jeff a glance as I spoke.
"So? What's the big deal?"
"Well, it's open to the public, meaning it can literally be anything ranging from the girl next door to America's Next Top Model. Doesn't that bother you even just a little bit?"
I shrugged in response.
"Why should it? I saw the concept for the video, Jeff. Adrien showed it to me. For goodness sake, he even asked me to help write a part of the script. It's not like the girl will have to kiss any one of them until they can't remember their own names. The most affectionate scene is a somewhat passionate hug, nothing more. So again I ask, what's the big deal?"
