Manhattan, New YorkKennedy knocks softly on the hospital room door, before opening it.
"Savannah?" Kennedy says as she steps into the room. Savannah Taylor was a beautiful woman with bright red hair, blue eyes, and freckles that spotted every inch of her face. Her husband was named Thomas and the two of them had just brought a beautiful baby boy into the world.
"Dr. Allen, hi!" Savannah greeted, "I'm surprised to see you here."
"Really?" Kennedy asks as she steps into the room.
"Yeah, there's been talk about that big conference in Vienna. I hear your fiancée is going to be out there," Savannah says with a smile, "What is it like being engaged to Black Widow?"
"Can you keep a secret?" Kennedy asks as she sits on Savannah's bed. Savannah was one of Kennedy's favorite patients. Mainly because they'd seen each other frequently with Savannah's pregnancy and the fact that she had been diagnosed with Leukemia three months in.
"Of course, I can," Savannah responds.
"Natasha and I are actually married," Kennedy says and Savannah's jaw drops.
"No way!"
"We did a courthouse ceremony a couple of weeks ago. We're not telling anyone because frankly, it isn't any of their business and because we're annoying little shits," Kennedy says, which makes Savannah laugh.
"I kind of wish Thomas and I did that," Savannah states, "People were hounding us about the wedding and then they were hounding us about grandkids. We never just got to enjoy the bliss of being married."
"We had that bliss for like five seconds," Kennedy says with a smile, "I don't think anyone truly gets to enjoy the bliss cause life just has a way of getting in the way."
"You're telling me," Savannah states, "I thought I'd be home changing smelly diapers after I gave birth but dealing with cancer is pretty great too."
Kennedy smiles, "Well I will tell you that I have good news."
"I love good news," Savannah states.
"All of TJ's tests came back and he is Leukemia free. I know there was only a three percent chance of that happening, but I thought you would love to know that you have a completely healthy baby boy on your hands."
"I am happy," Savannah states sniffling a little.
"And now that you are no longer pregnant, I've talked to the oncologist, and she thinks a bone marrow transplant is the best way to crush this thing."
"Really?"
"Yeah," Kennedy says as she reaches out and takes Savannah's hand, "You're at the finish line, Savannah. No more chemo which also means no more seeing me."
"Then we'll just have to hang out outside the hospital because you and I are getting drinks to celebrate," Savannah tells her and Kennedy laughs.
"I am so in," Kennedy responds.
"No husbands or wives for that matter," Savannah tells her with a grin.
"Just us girls," Kennedy says. Her phone rings in her pocket and she pulls it out to see Sharon's name light up the screen. Kennedy looks up at Savannah and offers her an apologetic smile, "I have to take this."
"Go ahead," Savannah tells her, and Kennedy nods as she heads out into the hallway before accepting the call.
"Sharon? Is everything okay?"
