painful pasts

I started sleeping better after I got my wings. but I always started having weird dreams. A part of me feels like these dreams aren't dreams. I woke up to see Aqua sleeping on my wing. "I guess I'm just a walking blanket for everyone." I said to myself. It was too early in the morning to be doing anything anyway. I went back to sleep. I had a dream again. But this time it was different. I was dressed in a tuxedo with a flower on my lapel. the flower was coated in fire. the tuxedo was red and orange. I was standing beneath an arch with beautiful flowers in all sorts of colors. But I noticed right next to me was a woman. the woman was in a beautiful light grey dress with large white wings that came out of the lady's back. the woman was holding a bouquet of flowers that were lit aflame. I noticed I was standing on a bed of flowers. I noticed that I had wings coming out of my back. But my wings were different. they weren't that deep dark black, but instead they were coated in fire. A man was standing in front of me and he woman I was next to. "I now pronounce you man and wife." The man said. The woman looked at me with that cloth that brides wear over their faces during a wedding. I could see the color of her eyes through the cloth. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of green.

I suddenly woke up again. my wing felt numb. it was still early in the morning. "did you have one of those dreams again?" Aqua asked. I slapped my hand on my face. My head was throbbing. "Yeah," I responded. "And I was getting married." I added. Aqua nervously laughed, at least it sounded like she was nervous. "Do you have any idea why I'm having these dreams?" I asked. Aqua shook her head. "Why are you up this late?" Aqua asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "I might as well get up now." I said. Aqua grabbed my hand and pulled me up. "You said that I was supposedly the god of life." I said. Aqua nodded her head. "What was my past like?" I asked. I could see a tear running down Aqua's cheek. "Your past is, awful and painful." Aqua said. I wiped the tear off of Aqua's cheek. Aqua grabbed my hand, tight. "What happened exactly?" I asked hesitantly.

"In the beginning, there was the supreme goddess of light Gara, Gara created the other six gods out of light, and gave them their power, their powers are the elements that make up the world, water, fire, earth, ice, thunder, space and light. the gods were assigned their roles so that the world runs, the goddess of space has the role of the flow of time, the god of thunder is in charge of justice, the goddess of ice was the words of guidance, water was the beautiful queen of the sea, the god of earth was in charge of the land, fire was the role of life and, and the goddess of light was in charge of the whole thing."

"what happened next?"

"The god of life and the supreme goddess of light had fallen in love, the gods had celebrated the marriage, except for the god of the earth, he became envious and went mad, he went from the god of the land and earth, to the god of destruction and chaos. that was when the battle between the god of life and destruction fought each other."

"who won the battle?" I asked.

"none of them either lost or won, they fought at their most powerful form, the phoenix and the dragon fought each other, the dragon corrupted the phoenix and almost killed him. but the supreme goddess of light banished the dragon into purgatory for a hundred thousand years, the god of life fell into a slumber for thousands of years, while the supreme goddess suffered and fell into pain and despair, that was when she disappeared."

"where did she go?"

"I don't know. the day she left was the day that natural disasters started happening."

"how did they start?"

"They started because the god of destructions rage and bloodlust had grew stronger."

"But now people have been trying to release him and you need to prevent that from happening." Aqua explained.

"How do we do that exactly?" I asked.

"the gods had a specific weapon that they had, that's the only way we can stop him."

Thoughts started racing in my head.

"What are the weapons?" I asked.

"the necklace of purity belonged to the supreme goddess, the trident of the sea belonged to me, the glacier spear belonged to the ice goddess, the gauntlets of thunder belonged to the god of lightning, the bow of time belonged the god of time, the axe of the earth belonged to the god of destruction and the burning sword belonged to you." Aqua explained.

A flaming sword, how original. "So, what your saying is that we need to find the sword?" I asked. Aqua nodded her head in approval. "So where is it?" I asked. Aqua scratched her head. "when you were in a slumber, the sword had no wielder, the other gods tried to hold it but it only burnt their hands." Aqua explained. I was very confused. "the only place that could withstand its heat was the, underworld." That makes sense in a way. "but we searched for the sword and we couldn't find it." Aqua added. this is even more difficult then I thought. "So we don't know where it is."

"We asked Gara where it is, but she said it was on this world, but she didn't say where exactly."

"Can you tell me more about the past?" I asked.

Aqua shook her head. I can see many more tears slowly dripping down Aqua's face. "I can't tell you, you'll hate me if I do." Aqua said. Aqua pushed me closer to her. "I care about you too much for you to relive that living hell, and I don't want you to hate me." Aqua cried. Aqua looked down to the ground. I put my hand under her chin and held it up. "Aqua." I said in a soft, gentle and calming tone. "I promise that I wont be upset." More tears dripped down Aqua's face.

"Ever since that battle, your slumber and the goddess's disappearance, humanity hated you and you alone. Humanity went into war and even more destruction." The moment she finished her sentence, I started to remember. And not just the battle. I remembered the aftermath. images started flashing in my head. the dragon, the battle, the outrage, the torture. but the thing that I remembered most, was the pain and suffering that not only I went through, but the goddess of light. I could see five people around a phoenix. I think I was seeing my funeral. The fire the burned off the phoenix coating it in flames, turned into just a little dying fire. if you can even call it that. I guess the five people were the gods. the sleeping phoenix's breath was heavy but slow. it's as if it was, dying. The gods suddenly disappeared. moss, trees and other bits of nature started growing on the phoenix as if time is passing. but the phoenix's breath can still be heard. but every time that time passed, the breathing got more faint and more silent. until the little flame that was on the phoenix had finally withered away into smoke.

The images stopped. "I remember Aqua, I'm starting to remember." I said. I started crying, balling my eyes out. "I remember the pain, the suffering, the battle and destruction that I've caused." Aqua grabbed my shirt and pulled me closer. "this, is not your fault, none of this is your fault." Aqua cried. I could see Leah next to me. "I didn't know you were awake." I said. A tear was on Leah's cheek. "And I didn't know you could be this emotional." Leah replied. I wiped off my tears, or some of them at least. "You know what happened, don't you." Leah nodded. "Aqua told me everything." Leah replied. "So I'm guessing you hate me." I said. Leah walked up to me. she raised her arm and slapped me across the face. a light sting traveled along my cheek. Leah then wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly. "Don't you fucking dare, blame yourself trying to save us?" Leah cried out. I wrapped my arms around her lower back. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you upset." I said. I could still feel the sting of the slap and I think Leah knew that, because Leah had her hand pressing against my cheek. "how about we forget this happened and just go to sleep." I offered. They both agreed and we slept through the whole night. but every time I closed my eyes and fall asleep, I dream of the sword that Aqua told me about. but every time I dream of it I feel the heat of the sword washing over my body and I wake up drenched in sweat. when morning came I could feel the intense amount of sweat on my body. Aqua was sitting next to me. "Are you ready to find that sword?" Aqua asked. Then she held out her hand. In Aqua's other hand, held a large trident with a bright blue gem like the color of the ocean on it. I took her hand and got up. Aqua leaned in and pressed her lips against my cheek. "Is that your trident?" I asked. Aqua nodded. "Let's go get my sword." I said.
