Torture

I headed off to the great hall. Where they explained more rules and shit. I know how to behave, but I don't like to. After orientation were told to go in our dorms and get settled. Once I get to my dorm I scream.

Both of my doors were gone and my bathroom mirror. That jackass wasn't joking. This is hell.  At least I still have my bed. I put my clothes in my closet. I miss home. My walk in closet, my car, my room, I miss everything. Then I lay on the bed and go to sleep.

Then I wake up to a screeching noise. I think it's a trumpet. What the hell? It sounds like it's coming closer, it's already louder with no doors. Then someone take my bed covers off me.

"What the hell!"      I hear a laugh and I recognize it instantly. The jackass.

"Get up, your late."    Classes aren't suppose to start yet.

"No. Classes haven't started yet."

"Fitness training begins right now. Get your ass up now."

"Jackass."     Then he grabs me and puts me on his shoulder. His very toned shoulder.

"You'll have to learn to watch that smart ass mouth of yours."

"Please put me down Carter. I'll get ready."    He puts me down. I wish he kept me in his arms.

"You got one minute, then you better be out on the field. Understand?"

"Yes, Carter."    I'm surprised he hasn't told me to stop saying his name. I'm suppose to call him General. Then her turns around and leaves. He makes me feel like I could be a better person. Not some messed up drunkie. This academy is going to be tough.

"You all need to go run 3 miles in under 25 minutes, go!"    We all speed off. Carter is really tough. Right when I got outside, we started warm-ups. When he came to my room he was nice, but now he seems rude and all jackass like. Luckily I'm great at running and moved my way to the front of the group. Having to run only 3 miles is easy. I'm the first person to finish. Carter looks impressed.

"Good job Ms.Kamarov. That's one of the fastest girl times I've ever seen. I'm impressed."

"Thank you, General."    He looks almost sad that I didn't call him Carter or Jackass.

"Did you run a lot at your school?"

"Yes, sir."

"Your very good."    He looks embarrassed for talking to me. But then everyone else arrives. I was 3 minutes ahead of the rest of the students. Why do I feel weird whenever I'm around him?

"Next we'll be doing 50 pushups. Go!"   Damn. Carter looks good from this angle. Stop! I shouldn't  looking at him. I focus on my pushups. I'm the first one done.

"Give me something that's worth my time, General."   He smirks.

"Alright, Alyssa I want you to carry these 20 pound weights and go run up that hill and back down in less that 15 minutes. It'll be two miles total. Can you do it cadet?"

Oh, now were both calling each other by the correct names.

"Yes, sir."

"There's one condition, if you fail to do this I will take your bed away from you."

"Here's my condition, if I win we all get to leave practice early. Deal?"

"Deal."

I get in my start position. I better win this. The wind is pushing me the right way. But when I turn around, it'll be harder.

"Ready, set, go!"

I run as fast as I can, but with 20 pounds in each hand you can only do so much. I start breathing heavily. This is harder than I thought. Carter said that someone is already at the top of the hill, to make sire I go the whole way. I'm already half way up the hill and its been three and a half minutes. I can do this. I will not lose to Carter. Once I reach the top, I run as fast as I can back down. I see my cadets in view. I'm going to win. Then I cross the finish line at 14:26.

All of my friends gather around me and are cheering for me. I beat the General in a bet!

"Well done Alyssa. I'm impressed once again."

"Thanks General. We'll be leaving you now, goodbye. Let's go guys." Then we leave Carter in the dust. Damn this feels good. But why do I feel sad that I'm leaving him?

Carter POV

She's amazing. She's the only girl that I've ever felt these feelings for. Alyssa. Why does she have to be my student? This is wrong, but why does it feel right? I want to talk to her and get to know. Once she leaves I head to my apartment. I've never been truly impressed with a student. I was the only person who could run up the hill with the weights in under 15 minutes, until Alyssa. I will find a way to be around her, without getting into trouble.
