Complications

Alyssa POV

Carter walks me around campus, holding my hand in his. We walk in silence for a long time.

"Where are we going, Carter?"  He turns and smiles at me.

"Just be patient."   He smirks to himself.

I really have missed him. I tried to forget him while in was gone, I knew my dad would never approve of him. It's beautiful outside, the sunset looks amazing along the horizon. Carter's taking me somewhere and I wish I knew where.

"We're almost there." Carter looks over at me reassuringly.

After a few minutes, I see where he's taken me. We reach the top of the hill and there's a picnic waiting for us. I can't believe he did this for me. How did he do this?

"I had a friend set this up while we were talking. I hope you like it."

"I love it! Let's eat." I give him a kiss on the cheek and sit down.

Once we finish our food, I realise that now's the time to ask questions. Be wanted us to get to know us better, now's our chance.

"Well let's start getting to know each other." He smiles at me.

"What would you like to know?"

"Tell me about your family. What are they like?"

"I have two brothers one older and one younger. I have one younger sister and I love them all very much. My brothers are in the army and my  sister is a gym teacher. I haven't seen them in months and I really miss them. My mom is a dentist and my dad works in construction. Is that good enough?"

"Yes." He seems like a regular guy. Nothing out of the ordinary.

"Is there anything else you would like to know?"

"Favorite color?"

"Blue."  Typical.

"Favorite food?"

"Pizza."

"Cater you already know a lot about me, because you've looked at all my records."

"I know. That's not a good way to start off things." He makes a sad face.

"There's no reason to be worried, I thought this was a great dinner. I'm glad that we did this."

We talk to each other for a while and finally decide to head back. We walk hand in hand towards the building. My new room is right next to Carter's apartment, so if I need anything I know that he'll be there for me.

We walk up to my room and he opens the door for me. I walk in and find all of my stuff sprawled on my floors.

"What the hell?" I say out loud.

Carter is on high alert and pushes me so that I'm standing behind him. We walk into the living room and I see a shadow in the window. It was a girl and she looked like she was crying.

She looks right at us and makes direct eye contact with me the Carter.

"I told you I would find you! I will always find you!"

She says it like she's going crazy. Then she jumps out of the window and down one story.

"Who the hell was that Carter?"

I push Carter away from me, I'm furious. He has some explaining to do.
