OUTSIDE DHAKA CITY LIMITS

"G, the extraction gotta happen this Friday. We've only got 48 hours to get the kid and the money on our account.", Nik started pacing around the room. I looked at them and then at the screen at the end of the room, arrows pointing to the place where the extraction was supposed to happen.

"The weapons are in the truck and so are the vests. Anything missing? Jane?", I snapped my eyes at Nick and blinked.

"Sorry?"

Two other men in the room looked at each other and snickered, making me roll my eyes. Nik glared at them and then looked back at me. "Don't worry about it."

"Oh man, I know what's missing.", G laughed to himself, shaking his head. I looked at him and took my phone in my hands, minding my business until I could.

Nik walked towards G and whispered something in his ear, making him nod and wordlessly walk away. The door shut seconds later and the only sound present in the room was the typing from the computers.

Nik and I made eye contact for a brief second. Yaz moved up and pressed a button on his keyboard. Pictures of our next extract were being shown.

"Our next extract.", he spoke loudly. "Drug lord's son: Ovi Mahajan. 14 years old. Father: Ovi Mahajan Senior, is in—"

The door slammed open, making everybody flinch. G was back and so was a man I knew too well. I couldn't believe Nik hadn't told me that we were gonna work together. A tinge of betrayal filled my chest, though the ringing in my head was more painful.

"Jail. He's in jail.", the blonde man said, took off his sunglasses and moved towards me, leaning against the table and crossed his arms on his chest. I sighed and looked at Yaz again.

"Thank you, Tyler. As I was saying, the father is in jail and his men employed us to get the boy back. Any questions?"

"What about our opposition?", Tyler spoke up.

"Amir Asif. Dhaka's very own Pablo Escobar. A lot of bad blood between them.", Yaz continued. I felt a pair of eyes burning on my face. I didn't want to give him that satisfaction and look his way. His head tilted away, making me glance his way. Our eyes met instantly, making me turn away just as quickly. A smirk tugged on his lips. Son of a bitch.

"This is our extraction point.", Yaz showed a boat on the screen. "José and Thiago will be waiting for you there and ferry you and the kid nine miles down the river to a chopper."

"It won't work out.", I spoke up and clenched my teeth once everyone's eyes moved on me.

"Elaborate?"

"How hard is it to spot an unidentified boat in a surveilled area? You said it yourself that there's bad blood between them, so what makes you think that there won't be people waiting for us?", I nodded to the boat on the screen.

"You're overthinking.", Nik looked at me. I shook my head.

"If we do this, the chances of survival will be slim."

"Which is why I'll be there with you.", Tyler looked down at me and winked, making me groan internally.

"You're just overreacting, Jane. It'll be alright.", Thiago patted me on the shoulder, taking me by surprise.

"Besides, it's not like you and Rake had any trouble working together.", José laughed, making Tyler smirk, looking at me. I couldn't believe their words.
