６ The Dinner

"Are you ladies ready?" I dropped my foot from the bed and grabbed my bag

"I guess" Des mumbled

I heard laughter and walked out the room

"Yowwza Bae!! You look fineeee" Des complimented me

I side eyed her father "you look nice"

"Thanks pops, so do you"

He laughed and opened the door

"After you"

Des laughed and walked out, I followed behind her

"Hey dad, is Amar gonna be there? I haven't seen him in years"

Who was amar?

"Yeah he's gonna be there" he spoke

It sounded like he was right behind me

I looked over my shoulder and caught his eye

I smiled a little and turned back around to catch the elevator but des closed the door on my face

"That damn girl" he kissed his teeth laughing

"We'll that des for you.. she's happy that she's here" I laughed learning against the wall waiting for the elevator to come back up, since it was going to be a minute

"I'm glad she's back, I missed her. She likes to stay home for a while even though I reside in California" I nodded taking in his words

"Oh.. why are you out here then? If you don't mind me asking?"

"No your good. It's just I've been working some things out here, I have different residencies all over just in case I need a change of scenery." I nodded

"I always wanted to do that. We'll be rich enough to do that"

"You will be, trust me. With that painting im sure you'll get somewhere" he nodded stepping close to me

Uh sir?

He looked me in the eye as he pushed the down button

"What's your profession?" He furrowed his eyebrows

"Umm actually im out of work right now, I got fired well let go because of covid but, I want to get into financing" he nodded

"Good, that's great because I need an accountant, a financial advisor whatever you call it" he laughed

"Okay, make sure im your first choice!" He nodded "of course"

The elevator beeped and the doors opened

Placing his hand on my back we walked inside and I pressed the garage button

Soon the doors closed

My phone dinged afterwards
