which meant it was also nabi's first day of her last year of high school. she didn't feel any different. in all honesty, she was ready to get the year over with. she looked in the mirror and looked over the school uniform she was wearing. she was definitely not gonna miss wearing this once she graduates.
the sound of footsteps approaching her bedroom door could be heard, it was then followed with a soft knock on the door. "come in." she said. it was her younger brother, jisung park. the two of them weren't far apart in age, so growing up they spent most of their time together. jisung also loved playing soccer. he has always admired his older sister and how talented she was in the sport. he only started playing because he wanted to follow in her steps. of course, he'd never actually admit this to her.
"jeno's downstairs waiting for us. he said he'd give us a ride to school."
"i'll be down in a second."
jisung nodded and shut the door leaving nabi alone in her room once again. she looked back at the mirror one last time before taking in a deep breath and going to grab her school bag. although she was ready to face the day, she couldn't help but feel somewhat nervous. for what reason? she wasn't sure. could it just be a gut feeling? whatever it was, she was hoping it would go away soon.

homeroom was about to begin. the classroom was loud with chatter from other students as they awaited the morning bell for class to start. nabi was fortunate enough to have class with renjun and jaemin. the three talked amongst themselves as they also waited for their teacher. once the bell rang and the teacher entered, the students all quickly scattered to their seats.
the teacher then of course introduced himself and the rules of the class, then a knock was heard from the door. the teacher paused and went out to see who it was. "ah, you must be our new student!" he spoke once he opened the door. he stepped out for a moment, causing the classroom to erupt in conversations, wondering who this new student could be.
nabi turned her body to face renjun, who was sat in the desk beside her. "this new student really has everyone worked up." nabi said to him. honestly, nabi wasn't too concerned about this new student like her classmates were. she had more important things to think about. like for example; her plans for her team as she was awarded head captain of the girl's soccer team. this was a really big deal for her. she worked hard for this title and she wanted to ensure she was worthy of it. although the season doesn't start till much later, the soccer teams start practicing early to keep the players in top shape for future games.
nabi chatted with renjun for a bit when suddenly the door opened and in came the teacher, causing the classroom to fall silent. a second pair of footsteps were heard, whispers could be heard all throughout the room.
nabi turned her head to face the front of the class. her eyes landing on the teacher which moved on over to the second person standing at the front of the room.
no way...
"class, this is our new student mark lee. please give him a warm welcome."
the students welcomed him and gave him a quick round of applause. "please, introduce yourself mister lee."
"oh yeah, um, hey i'm mark. i hope to be friends with all of you and have a good year."
claps were heard once again. "now let's get started with lessons. mark, why don't you have a seat at the empty desk next to miss park. miss park please raise your hand for mister lee."
nabi who was in complete shock, didn't hear a word that was said. she stared at mark in such disbelief.
renjun having noticed nabi's sudden frozen stature, he leaned over, grabbed one of her arms and flung it in the air for mark to see.
mark's eyes grazed over the crowd until it landed on the arm in the air. mark couldn't see all that well due to the fact that he forgot to wear his contacts. he walked towards her and once he came closer he immediately recognized nabi.
"woah! you're that girl from—"
"have a seat mister lee we must get started."
mark was interrupted by the teacher, he apologized and sat in his new desk which was to the left side of nabi. once doing so, he took out a notebook from his bookbag, tearing out a small piece of paper from the corner.
she couldn't believe that she met him again. she should've figured since he was at that party but it just didn't occur to her.
a small folded piece of paper was thrown on her desk. she unfolded it up to read what it could be.
