after dinner the two best friends had settled into jeno's room, where they sat on the bed to watch anime. they were both leaning back on the headboard staring at the flatscreen ahead of them without either of them saying a word for the past 20 minutes.

but nabi was itching to find out more about the girl he mentioned earlier. he did say they would talk about it after dinner but he hadn't brought it up.
"jeno." she finally spoke, not wanting to wait any longer. he hummed in response, indicating that he was listening to her even though he still had part of his attention on the arguing pirates on the screen.

"so about what you said earlier—"

her sentence was cut short when a loud ding along with a few more came from jeno's phone. he'd gotten a few messages which made him divert his whole attention to his phone. a smile could be seen beginning to spread on jeno's face. nabi watched as he quickly messaged the person back. "sorry, what were you saying?" he said, still looking down at his phone with an amused smile.

she felt so awkward for some reason. and she has never felt awkward around jeno. this was such a strange feeling for her. it was never this hard being able to talk to him about anything (well, aside from her true feelings for him). luckily she didn't have to bring it up any more as he put his phone down, sat up straight, and turned to face her.

"so i've kind of been seeing someone..."

"no shit." she scoffed but immediately regretted it, she didn't intend to sound so harsh. it didn't faze him though, he laughed it off and continued with what he was saying.

"right, sorry. you probably want to know who she is. her name is yumi kim and nabi she's amazing. i can't wait for you to meet her." he gushed.

nabi has heard of this girl before, she didn't know her personally but she was aware of her existence. yumi is rather well known around school, many have said she was kind and beautiful. however, nabi and yumi have never crossed paths before, not for any reason, they just fell in two different crowds.

"um... how long have you two been dating?" surely it couldn't have been that long.
"since the beginning of break."

what the fuck?

that meant that they'd been dating for a while. and all this time he didn't say anything about her? of course, nabi didn't think he was obligated to tell her everything but he pretty much always did. she didn't want it to, but this kind of hurt her feelings.

"dude, what? how come this never came up?" she tried her hardest not to sound so offended.

jeno sighed, "i'm sorry, nabs, i know i should've told you sooner. to tell you the truth, it just sort of happened. remember how i volunteered for a bit at the kids soccer training camp? she would always be there on the sidelines cheering on her little brother, it was pretty cute."

nabi internally gagged.

"one day we just started talking and well here we are." jeno chuckled, brushing a hand through his hair. "i didn't expect for things to get progress the way that they did. i truly had no intentions on dating but what the hell, right? it's our last year. and she honestly makes me happy. i really like her, nabi." he sounded more serious as he went on.

as much as this made nabi's heart ache, nothing made her happier than to see her best friend happy. jeno deserves to be cherished and she's glad to know that someone was there to offer him that. "i'm happy for you jen, i can't wait to meet her." jeno's eyes grew bright, relieved to have his best friend's support.

after leaving jeno's house nabi was in her room, laying flat on her bed, staring up at her ceiling. the only light shining in her room being the dimly lit lamp from her nightstand and the glowing stars scattered on her ceiling she placed from when she was a kid. she had a lot going on in her mind.

despite telling jeno she was happy for him, she was anything but. she could already begin to feel the tears welling up in her eyes. she really didn't want to cry, but at this point she couldn't help it.

a knock could be heard from her bedroom door, which made her immediately jump up and tried to wipe her tears. the door slowly cracked open, revealing her younger brother jisung. "hey nabi, do you know if—" he cut himself off, noticing her rubbing her eyes and the sound of her quiet sniffles. "nabi? are you okay?" the concerned boy asked.

as soon as she heard the question, she couldn't hold in her sob any more. jisung panicked and went to comfort his older sister. "what's going on? what's wrong, nabi?" he asked, afraid that something terrible must of happened.

"i really like him." nabi finally let out in-between sobs. jisung was no idiot, he knew exactly what she meant. he grew up following them around, after all. in fact, he knew before she even knew that she was head over heels for her best friend. nothing else was said between the two siblings. they sat there on nabi's bed as jisung held his big sister to him and let her cry into his shirt.

this was the sign she needed. she no longer wanted to feel this way ever again.
