the house was packed with teens, making it almost tremble. the liquid sat in the red solo cup, moving ever so slightly due to its surroundings. the owner of this cup did not move, however. it felt like she'd been staring down at her drink for what felt to be hours, but only being about 10 minutes or so. 10 minutes ago, she was handed this cup by the host of the party, and 13 minutes ago she had barely arrived to the party.

it only took 3 minutes for her to be given an alcoholic drink and only 5 minutes for her best friend to abandon her. well, abandon might be an exaggeration. he was dragged away by some of the boys from the soccer team so quickly he didn't even have a chance to drag her along with him. another two minutes pass by. 15 minutes. it was safe to say that she was already regretting coming out tonight. "nabi!" a voice from across the room called for her.

nabi park, the girl with the red cup and the girl with the mental clock ticking in her brain. she was in such a daze she didn't even hear the sound of her name being called. her name was called a few more times, each time the voice getting closer. eventually she snapped out of her trance and was brought back to reality. "nabi, hey! I called your name like 5 times. didn't you hear me?" she looked to the owner of the voice and realized it was none other than donghyuck.

donghyuck lee, best known as haechan, (a name that's been associated with him for as long as nabi has known him) she met him when they were both 9 years old at a boys and girls soccer summer program. at first, she hated him and couldn't stand being around him. in fact they fought so often both on and off field it eventually became a problem for the the workers and they were taken out of any fun group activities till they both figured out a way to become good teammates. not wanting to miss out on anything, the two of them eventually agreed to show some tolerance towards each other. for the rest of that summer break, they grew somewhat of a bond. once they got older and hit middle school, they ended up at the same school, in the same class, and the rest as they say was history.

"sorry I couldn't hear you. the music is too loud." she responded. he chuckled. "so I thought you weren't coming, eh?" he asked in a teasing manner. nabi rolled her eyes. she knew one of her friends would say this. it was true though, nabi had no plans on coming out tonight. "I had a change of heart I guess." she gave him a sarcastic response. "a change of heart or did jeno make you come with him?"

jeno lee is nabi's best friend, well one of them at least. but her friendship with jeno ran deeper and longer than any other from their friend group. the lee and the park family had known each other for many, many years. in fact they were close long before they started their own families. the closeness between their parents passed on down to their children. specifically jeno and nabi who were of the same age, in fact their birthdays are only a few days apart from each other. nabi being the oldest (which she never lets jeno forget). they grew up together, did everything together, and were always there for each other.

"okay fine, he made me."

she took a quick swing of her drink but instantly regretted it because of its bitter taste burning her throat. it didn't help either that it was warm. she honestly had no idea what she was drinking but whatever it was, it was strong.

"did you two just get here though?" haechan asked. "yeah like 20 minutes ago." (she was still keeping track) " you need to finish that drink faster I need you to get drunk with me." he giggled. nabi raised an eyebrow, "are you drunk right now?" "no but I'm getting there. I can already feel my body tingling."

"please don't say that ever again"

"are you hating on my body tingle, nabi?"

"hyuck, I will deck you."

"you're so feisty, I love it."

"you two done flirting?" a sudden voice coming from beside the two, they turn to look and see their friend, jaemin na.
