Cathrina Rosewood POV's

I waited patiently for Mirabel by the river next to the market. What was she going to tell me? Maybe she suspects me having a crush on her cousin?! What if she tells me off?! Calm down, Cath. You're totally fine. Breath in, Breath out.

"Pssstt!" someone whispered from behind me. I quickly turned around. No one. Oh no! Am I hallucinating?! I knew I shouldn't have ate to much!

   I nervously turned my gaze back up again when;

     "Psstt! Cath!!"

I lifted my hands up and a jet of water burst out of it. After it cleared, a VERY soaked and ticked off looking Mirabel greeted me, the bush she was hiding on flew beside her, soaked as well.

"OMG Mira! Are YOU okay??" I exclaimed, kneeling to her. "I AM So sorry! I thought you must be a kidnapper or something."

"There aren't any kidnappers here in Encanto." Mirabel huffed. "And way to drench me."

"I admit, THAT was kind of MY fault." I smiled nervously. "So, w-what's up?"

Mirabel stood up and wiped her clothes. "Remember what I told you about the candle a couple of hours ago?"

      "Yeah....?"

"Well, I think the magic is dying. Have you noticed Luisa lately? She's glum down the earth." Mirabel said. "I think her powers are disappearing."

"So? Can't your Abuela just wax the candle back up?" I asked.

Mirabel looked at me like I had gone mad. "Wax the candle back up-? Cath, the candle isn't just ANY ordinary candle. It's made out of magic."

"I know it's made out of magic." I said, a bit annoyed. "But there are three elements you need to build the candle back up, right?"

Mirabel tapped her chin. "I think so. But we need to find out what those elements are." her eyes widened and she clapped her hands. "I know where we can find clues! My Tio Bruno's tower!"

"But, isn't his tower like, SUPER far from here? I'm not being lazy or a brat whatsoever, It's just that, I'm not used into walking form long places to long places-"

"But you do it when it's for Camilo." Mirabel pointed out.

I turned red. Mirabel, who clearly saw, smirked.

"So....my dear Cathy..." she started. "You like Camilo don't you-?"

"Come on!" I grumped. "And shush it! Dolores can hear you, remember??"

"You're lucky." a quiet voice said from behind us. We wheeled around and saw Dolores, standing by the tree. HOW did she got THERE?! Was she there this whole time?! "I did heard everything." she smirked too. "I didn't know it's much possible for the princess of Spain to be in love with just a normal boy."

        "Dolores!" I gasped. "You heard?!"

Dolores nodded. I shot Mirabel a dirty look and she avoided my gaze, smiling innocently.

"Don't you are spill a word!" I warned her. "He must not  know!"

"Don't worry, Cath, I won't." Dolores promised softly, but I could see VERY clearly underneath that soft voice of hers was a BIG, TRIUMPHANT, EVIL smile.

"Where are you two going anyways?" Dolores asked.

"Oh, nothing." Mirabel said casually. "Just looking at the clouds."

"Really? Cause I thought I heard you say Tio Bruno's name just awhile ago-"

"Dolores! Come help me here in the farm!" Pepa interrupted. "And where is your brother?!"

"Coming mama!" Dolores squeaked, and ran towards the field.

"Thank goodness she left." Mirabel muttered. "Come on!"

We dashed in Casita to Bruno's room, which was dusty and had locks.

"Argh! Dang it! I forgot about the padlocks!" Mirabel grunted, trying to pull the wood open.

I stepped in front of her and tutted. "That's not how you do it, Mira. Watch and learn." I took out my lockpick from my hair and inserted it in the lock, without any second, the lock clicked! and then opened, revealing sand falling down the entrance. Mirabel looked at me in awe as I placed the lockpick back my hair again.

"What? There's more than just air in my hair you know." I said, rolling my eyes playfully. "Now, come on! I'm excited to see Bruno's room! I bet his' room is the coolest!"

We both ran up the falling sand and fell down at the same time, my face landed on the sand. Ew!

"Casita, can you turn off the sand effects or something?" Mirabel asked, but the tiles on the outside jiggled 'no'.

        "Y-You can't help here?"

The tiles moved in rhythm. 'yes.'

"I guess we're on our own then." I sighed. "Come on, let's go."

We continued walking when we reached into a dead end, the other part of the sand mountain was on the other side

"You have got to be kidding me!" Mirabel groaned.

"Let's try to jump at the same time." I suggested. "3, 2, 1-"

We both jumped but I missed an inch, though I managed to grab a little part of a steady sand.

I grabbed on the little part of sand and hauled myself up the top, gasping for air.

"Bruno! Forget what I said! You're room is the WORST!" I yelled.

"What kind of room is this even?!" Mirabel added, like me, she was gasping for breath. "Zahara Desert?!"

When we finally got our breaths back, we forcefully continued onward, my body crying out in tiredness.

      But I ignored it.

We soon reached a clearing. Nothing was there. Just a clearing of sand.

"There's nothing here!" Mirabel said in disbelief. "This is unbelievable!"

We were about to go back when I saw something that flashed a little from down. It was like something was buried in the sand. I dig it up and found a piece of emerald stone that had something engraved on it. Then I found another one. And another one.

"Mira!" I exclaimed. "Look! Something's in here!"

Mirabel knelt down and helped me dig. It was pieces of what seems like green shards.

"Wait...is this-?" Mirabel held the three pieces together, and her face came in view.

"That's you!" I gasped. "W-What are you doing-?"

But before I could even continue my sentence, the cave began to rumble.

          Shit.
