Jun's POV:
We reach the place and as we're about to get out of the car, Sam gets a call and tells me to go ahead
"What is it, Paula?" Pause. "Uh-huh.....okay....No, that wouldn't do. Do a double check with the analytics team....Right - so...hold on for a minute-"
He covers his phone and looks at me.
"Um...Jun - I think this might take a few minutes. Why don't you go on inside? I'll be there in a few." He says and gets back to his call.
"Yeah, no problem." I nod and get outside the car.
It's weird how we're going to a Thai restaurant for dinner. It's his weird buddy Te's idea. But I guess I understand. He's been away from Thailand for more than a year and he's homesick. I've seen Phi Te a couple of times with Sam - he's his friend for God knows how long. At first glance he appears to be calm and collected but when he's around Sam - the conversation gets incredibly...for the lack of a better word, nerdy.
While I don't dislike science, in fact I'm quite interested in how things work. But when we first met, they both started talking and at one point I gave up and didn't even try to listen to what they were talking and giggling over as I felt even a friggin' dictionary would be useless in trying trying keep up with their conversation. In simple words, I felt stupid.
But then, Te and Sam got even stupider when they ended up getting drunk the other time and I had to see Te hugging Sam and crying over how single and homesick he felt, and barfed all over the backseat. Oh, and that's not all- both of them took turns drunkenly screaming every single dirty science joke and pick-up line that existed in this universe as I drove them home.
That was the most traumatizing experience in my life.
I felt myself getting progressively older as I tried opening the door to see the nerd couple. Somehow Te managed to get himself a woman, and if she she's still here, then she hasn't seen him drunk yet. With Sam.
A familiar head with long hair and impeccable posture turns her head to speak to a waiter. Wait - Ubon?
I rub my eyes and blink. Ubon? Here?
I must be seeing things.
I look at here again with her back facing me. It can't be her.
I didn't feel my legs as they made me walk to the table without me ever letting them do it - and Te comes into my field of vision, speaking to the same woman from across the table.
"Oh hey, Jun! Juuunn!!" He waves with q huge smile showing his face.
"Hello, weirdo," I say rolling my eyes.
That's when she turns and sees me.
"You!" "YOU!"
We both say at the same time and she looks so surprised that her eyes might pop out any second.
"Ubon! You..H-how?"
"Why are you here alone? Where's my homie Sam?"
"You both know each other?" Ubon chips in.
"Yeah - I meant to ask that too."
I try to debate on which person to attend to first and then decide to answer Te cuz he won't stop bugging me.
"Hey Jun!" Te waves his hands in front of me. "Hoiii Jun!"
"I will start answering when you both can just stay quiet for a freaking minute!!"
I couldn't help that I raised my voice at this point. I look around around see a few pairs of eyes staring at me like I've committed a huge offense. I mumble a sorry and sit down at the nearest chair.
