I look down into my hands, at the perfectly half folded piece of paper, the contents leaving me smiling like a fool.
It was the first page of the sheet music for 'Für Elise', except Harry had scribbled out 'Elise', replacing it with 'You' and had written the guitar chords above the piano notes; on the bottom there was small calligraphy, printed in perfect neat handwriting, 'For the girl with green-grey eyes, an angel's smile, and pierced lips.'.
My heart fluttered at his beautifully written words, and the romantic and imaginative gesture.
I savoured the moment of pure bliss, for it was known my tainted mind would soon begin to deny my happiness and solemn thoughts would parade throughout my mind.
I smiled to myself and hugged the piece of paper, before placing it on the piano.
As if the notion of solemn thoughts had triggered something inside of me, my mind began to drift into sombre thoughts, diverging into a series of moreover morbid thoughts.
I hadn't realised I had been transfixed on absolutely nothing and tracing over the scars over my upper thighs, my nails digging into my flesh through my leggings, until I was snapped out of my daze by Louis, who had been waving his hand in front of my face, snapping his fingers.
"Helllloooo? Earth to Hazel?" Louis spoke in a singsong, finally bringing me back to reality.
I blinked rapidly and shook my head slightly, as if to shake of my thoughts, and looked up to a smirking Louis.
"Did you have fun Hazel? You know, in your own little universe?" Louis smiled cheekily and looked down at my hands that were digging into my thighs and frowned.
"Hazel," he frowned, almost looking as if he was disappointed, but his eyes shining with concern and sadness. He carefully removed my hands from my thighs and placed them in his, "Your shift is just about over."
"What? Oh okay, sorry Louis." I gave him a half-hearted smile and he pulled me up from the piano stool I had been placed.
"It's okay, over-thinking again?" He asked, sadness clear in his voice.
"Yeah, I am alright though, don't worry." i walked over underneath the counter, grabbing my black leather jacket, along with my shoulder bag and clocking off.
I quickly went to the bathroom, fixing my hair and re-applying my eyeliner, as well as some lip gloss.
I walked out to the counter, placing my jacket on the surface while I waited for Harry to come. Louis appeared beside me.
"Do you need a ride home?" Louis asked.
"No thank you, I have a date actually." I smiled at him, remembering my gift on the piano.
"Oooooh! Who is he? Where did you guys meet? Is he cute? What does he look like? Does he have any piercings? Tattoos?" Louis questioned me as I walked to the piano, carefully folding the sheet and placing it back in my purse.
"Goodness, his name is Harry, we-" I laughed briefly and began before being interrupted by Louis.
"Harry? As in the one that came in today?" Louis asked and I nodded in response, "Awwww Hazel and Harry sitting in the tree-"
"Louis. No, don't please"
"K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"
"Louis." I warn.
"First comes love, then comes marriage-" this time, Harry was the one to interrupt Louis childish chanting.
"Hey Louis, who's getting married?" Harry asks as he steps through the door.
He wears a dark navy blue sweater, with khaki pants and red converse, looking implacably amazing.
My heart skips a beat at the sight of him, I start to smile but my previous thoughts stop me and instead I look down to my black converse.
"Ready to go?" I looked up and Harry was beside me, his arm out for me to take, a handsome smile on his lips and his eyes gleaming.
I looked at his arm, my mind in its own war on whether to grab it or not. I wanted to so badly, but the dark and demented part of me wanted to walk right past him and deny me of happiness, so I could be alone in despair.
He looks down at my, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. He starts to draw back his arm, so I disregard my thoughts and link my arm with his.
I bid goodbye to Louis, who winks and puckers his lips as he makes a kissing sound teasingly.
I roll my eyes at him as we walk out into the cold November night. We walk down the street to his car, a black Mercedes, and he opens the car door for me, as any gentleman would, and holds my hand as i step into his car, the gesture making my heart flutter and heat rise to my cheeks.
I sit on the plush leather seats, a new car smell with a hint of cologne fill the small space, as he closes the car door with a small thud.
I admire the luxurious interior of the car as he sits in the driver seat and starts the ignition.
"I like your car." I blurt out.
He chuckles and says, "Thank you.".
He pulls out of the parking space and we take off.
"I was thinking of taking you to a 1950's style diner, is that okay?" He asks as I look up at him, he looks at me briefly while I nod, before he looks back to the road.
We sit in a comfortable silence as the sky turns dark, soon arriving to a beautifully lit up restaurant, replicating a diner that would have once been popular in the 1950's.
"We're here." I look to Harry, where he is staring at me with lust filled eyes, a devilishly handsome smile on his lips.
