The bell chimes as I walk through the front door of the music store and I immediately hear the melodic sounds coming from the piano room. I run a hair through my curls to shake the snowflakes that have perched themselves upon my head and shoulders.

I hang my coat on the coat rack next to the door, brushing the snow flakes from my hair, and head into the room, knowing she will be there completely oblivious to the world around her as she escapes in the harmonies that she produces from the elegant movements of her fingertips.

I turn the corner, and sure enough, Hazel is seated at the grand piano, her brows knitted together in concentration and her bottom lip pulled in by her top. My breathing hitches when her mouth opens and words fall from it as she sings, I immediately recognise the tune as Hey Jude by The Beatles, and my eyes close at the soft and angelic tone of her voice.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder

I lean on my shoulder against the wide arch frame, watching Hazel play in contentment and her mouth form the lyrics of the song.

I hear quiet steps behind me, and a hand lands of my shoulder.

"She sure is something, isn't she?" Niall smiles up at me.

I just hum and nod, finding to no words to explain the beauty I found in her playing, it was indescribable.

Niall tugs me by the arm, snapping me out of my transfixed state, "Ready for lesson number two? And do you think maybe you could actually concentrate this time?"

"Shut up," I playfully nudge him with my shoulder, "Just give me a minute."

Niall rolls his eyes, muttering something about whipped as he walks into the tutoring room.

My gaze sets back on Hazel, before I look over my shoulder to see if Niall is watching, and quickly step over to the piano in which she is seated, and join her.

Hazel looks up at me with sad eyes and a small smile, causing my brows to furrow as I ponder what could make such an angel look so sad.

"What's wrong?" I ask her, concern lacing my voice.

Her hands drop to her sides and she takes a deep breath.

"Five years ago, on this day my father died from lung cancer, and it had not even crossed my mind until Carl reminded me this morning." Her bottom lip quivers slightly as I process the newfound information.

"Oh Hazel, that's- i dont know what to say I'm sorry. Why did you come to work today?"

"I'm not sure, I was going to try avoid it for the moment but I couldn't stop thinking about it and then I just started playing and I accidentally started playing his favourite song and-"

"Calm down, love," I say as tears start to spill down her cheeks, "It's okay."

My hand cups her jaw gently and my thumb moves up and down as she looks at me with her beautiful eyes filled with sadness. Her eyes flutter shut and she nuzzles her face into my hand.

"Let's get out of here." I suggest, making her eyes shoot open.

"N-No we can't do that! I have to work." She says quietly, her tears stopping as something gleams in her eyes.

"And I have a guitar lesson with Niall, I'm sure Louis will understand and Niall will be happy to have me out of his hair."

"I can't just leave without telling anyone."
