Chapter Ten: Heartbreak

I have not touched this in the longest time but for some reason ya'll really like it. I'm super happy to hear that; I wish I finished this so I could just publish it all. Thank you all for showing so much love to a story I thought no one would really ever read. I will try to periodically publish whenever I find the free time. I love reading the comments and encouragement <3. Hopefully this is just as good as the rest.

The four of us stayed up for most of the night before falling asleep in the most odd positions. The girls talked about Marcus and what he might wear, how Zoe should go back and ask him to go with her. Zoe just insisted on going with each other, the three of them being each others dates. I then began to be teased about Pin but we're just friends; we are just going as friends.

When we arrived to the barn, I could not find Pin and just opted for riding Dash while the girls went on their Ghost Pony hunting. After tacking him up I lead him out and just did some free riding in the fields nearby. We rode for a few hours, taking this time for ourselves and to bond, most of it I just let him go where he wanted. He lead me around and grazed. At one point I even dismounted and played tag with him. I felt free with just me and Dash. He and Pin I feel like are the only ones who truly understand me. I never feel safer than when I am with them.

I lead him back to his stall to where I would untack him and ran into a rather angry looking Pin. Still, I presented him with a smile. "Hi." His narrowed eyes did not ease up at all and so my confusion further. "What's wrong?"

"I'm not a charity case, alright?" He snapped.

My brows furrow and I stop once we reach each other. "What?"

"You don't need to ask me just because you feel bad."

I shake my head, my mouth agape at his accusation. "Pin, that is not at all why I asked you."

"Mia told me everything." He informed me and I sighed in frustrated.

"Whatever she said is not true." I tell him, "You seriously cannot believe anything she says."

"I need to loosen up?" He raises his eyebrows in suspicion.

"Okay, well, I did say that but I didn't mean anything negative by it." I try and save myself. I did say he needed to loosen up but I never meant it as any way but for him to have a good time. He never really does anything for himself and I thought the dance could be a good chance for him to think about himself and fully relax.

"But you said it?" 

"Pin-"

"Did you?"

"Yes." I admit regretfully. "You have to listen to me-"

"I don't have to do anything; especially anything that involves you." He goes to walk away but I reach out for his hand.

"Pin, stop!" He yanks his arm from me and glares at me. "Don't just walk away from me. We are having a conversation that needs to be cleared up."

"I have nothing else to say to you." I try to pretend as if his words do not hurt as much as they do. 

"Well I have some stuff to say to you!" Frustration is clear in my tone. He scoffs and shake his head, turning to walk away again. "You can't ignore this! You can't walk away from me just like you do with all your other problems!" Comes out before I understood what I said. I go to apologize for my harsh words but he replies before I can. "Pin, I-"

"I walk away from my problems?" He spins on his heels quickly and stalks right up to me as I take a shaky breath, used to that angry expression but I know that Pin would never hurt me. "Where are those bruises from Bethany? Why did you have a limp? Don't come to me about ignoring or walking away from problems when you are just the same."

My breath hitches and my chest swells. Again, I was wrong. Pin would never hurt me physically but that said nothing about emotionally. "I wouldn't want to go with you anyway." I whisper to him, tears welding in my eyes. "I don't want to go at all."

His eyes soften as he sees my reaction. He goes to open his mouth and say something else but I don't let him. I don't know if I could handle anything else he says. "Just go Pin. I have to take care of Dash and frankly I don't want to be near you right now." We both said something hurtful but he was completely out of line.

His jaw tightens and he leaves without another word. I spend the next half hour taking care of Dash and silently crying to myself. Dash nuzzles me, providing me the comfort I need as I feel my heart break.
