My brave Caesar,

So is it real? You really left... You left me? Alone, at home with no one left...

The house is empty, without atmosphere, without laughter... And without that smile that adorned my lips that I have now lost for about five months... All in all since you left in fact.

Your mother had come to visit me again yesterday afternoon and I served her her usual cup of green tea. She then asked me questions about you, how you were doing, but I hadn't had the answers for a good eleven weeks...

Without you at home, I did nothing with my days except sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, and all other stupid activities to distract myself and take my mind off things.

I could have joined the ammunition, in the car factories transformed into a shell and ammunition factory in order to help the soldiers in my own way, you would say to me, but what's the point ?

I've lost all real motivation since I haven't seen your face since you left home for France.

Know my brave Caesar that even in spite of your death, I will continue to think of you and to love you a little more each day.

I still remember what I said to you the day you left home, standing on the doorstep, giving a military salute in your beautiful olive green uniform that made me smile. I remember telling you :

⸺ Go defend the tricolor but quickly, a kiss then another one.

I didn't want you to leave, although that day I had a slight smile drawn on my face...

As you told me at the end of your letter. I loved you, I love you and I will love you forever...

Signed (tp) Zeppelli
