-Jana pov-
Dave led me into a large kitchen, a dining room connected. Two people stood together at the stovetop, the guy's arm wrapped around the girl.
I got deja vu as they turned, the guy looking exactly like the man I ran into earlier. But based on the information I knew now this was the other twin. He had the same dark hair but I was pushed up off his forehead, his hazel eyes twinkling instead of glaring at me. The girl was gorgeous with long light brown hair and sparkling eyes.
The both smiled at us, his grip seeming to loosen on her. "Hey Dave, who's this?" He said, a slight tone of suspicion.
"This is Jana, she's applying for the assistant position." Dave explained, his hand guiding me farther into the kitchen. "Jana, Ethan, Ethan, Jana." Dave chuckled. "And Ethan's...friend Emma."
I smiled warmly, hopping to make a good impression. "Nice to meet you both."
Emma nodded politely before whispering something in Ethan's ear. His expression dropped a bit but he pulled away from her, turning to Dave and I. "I'll call Grayson, get him to come home so the four of us can talk."
"Perfect, come on Jana we can wait in dining room," Dave said, walking past Ethan and Emma.
I acknowledged them both as I passed, simply uncomfortable with the slight tension that had come unexpectedly. The dining room was well lit, with yellow chairs around a glossy table. We both took a seat, mine having a perfect view of the huge backyard. As I saw before it had a large pool that overlooked the LA skyline. Beautiful. I could get sued to this sight.
I could hear Ethan on the phone, only for a few moments with harsh words. Once the call ended him and Emma talked in hushed tones, finishing making whatever was on the stove. Dave tapping on his phone, a stressed look on his face, so I opted to stay quiet and mind my own business.
Fifteen minutes had passed before I heard the front door open, loud steps indicting an approaching person. Deep voices spoke from the other room briefly and then both boys entered.
I was finally able to see them both side by side and it was truly impression how similar but also how different they were. Their faces and both shapes were the same but Ethan seemed softer, Grayson having harsher edges. Ethan wore dark pants with a t-shirt tucked in and a designer belt showing. Grayson had on workout shorts and a t-shirt, his hair damp from sweaty. He must have gone to the gym.
They both sat down across from Dave and I. Ethan had a bowl of something, periodically lifting his fork for a bite. Grayson leaned back in his chair, drinking from a water bottle as he seemed annoyed.
"Boys, this is Jana Nicolas, and I think she's the perfect fit for our little family. Dave smiled, looking pretty confident.
"How did you meet her?" Ethan asked, almost like I wasn't even in the room.
"At the club actually, but we had a long conversation and-."
"No offense Dave, but we need someone reputable." Ethan interrupted Dave, his eyes flickering to me.
Dave looked like he was at a lost of works so I jumped in, leaning forward. "What do you want to know?"
Ethan looked surprised that I had spoke but Grayson still wouldn't look at me. "Well..." Ethan started. "I mean, I sound like an ass but tell us about yourself I guess."
I took a deep breath. "There's not much to know. I live by myself, work at a boutique and laundromat currently. And I only really talk to my best friend." I clasped my hands together, finally deciding I had nothing to lose. "Look, I know you guys don't know me. But I promise I'm a hard worker and even better at following direction. I need this job, I want to go back to school and I'm on the cusp of losing my apartment." I paused. "But I understand if you rather find someone with better qualifications."
The room was silent for a few moments, a grin on Dave's face and Ethan looking impressed. Suddenly Grayson pushed back from the table. "Give her the job." He spoke, his voice deep.
"Gray-." Ethan started.
But Grayson didn't listen, leaving the room. "Give her the job." He ordered once more.
We waited until his footsteps faded, a door slamming somewhere else in the house. Dave and Ethan made eye contact before they both burst out laughing.
Dave shrugged. "Okay, yeah?" His question was pointed at Ethan.
Ethan smiled, meeting my gaze. "Well you heard it, you've got the job Jana."
