Serena's Pov

I walked out of the bedroom and found my way to the bathroom, luckily no one was in there. I used toilet paper to dry under my eyes. As I kept staring at myself in the mirror I could feel the tears still trying to come through. Yet I couldn't produce any.

I moved my fingers through my hair until it looked normal again and the redness from my eyes left. I put my hand on the door handle taking a deep breathe before putting a smile on my face as I opened the door. I found my way back to the living room seeing Dani and Robin dancing together. I could see Dani's face and she has such a genuine smile on her face. That I've only ever really seen a couple of times.

I walked into the kitchen picking up a cup and pouring something into it. I took a few sips before I could feel someone's presence behind me. "Hey," I heard a deepish voice say before I turned to the side seeing a guy with dark brown hair and a relaxed outfit. "Serena, right?" he said before taking a sip from his cup.

"Yeah," I nodded trying to remember his name. "Have we met before?" I asked with a awkward laugh.

"No I've just heard a lot about you," he says with a smile, "I'm Matt."

"Nice to meet you Matt," I smiled.

"Wanna dance?" he asked me. I nodded so he lead us both into the living room. I had never been asked to dance by a guy before, I was usually the one doing the asking. We danced for a couple of songs and I had almost forgot about what had happened.

A few hours passed and Matt and I had been talking on the couch for a while. I found out he went to a school a county over and ended up at this party because one of his friends. He had just turned eighteen a few days ago and the first thing he did was get a small tattoo. He told me how he wanted to be a writer once he left.

Matt also let me talk about myself. I told him what I wanted to do later in life and how I hoped I'd be able to get out of Hawkins and start my own fashion line. Though it's unlikely it's really something I dream of. Honestly it was a really nice just talking to him because he wanted nothing more than that.

Time passed and the number of people in the room continually decreased. Yet we were still talking to each other. "You got a ride home?" he asked me as he noticed there wasn't a lot of people there anymore. I looked around trying to see if my ride was here but I didn't see Iris anywhere, I guess she left after everything.

"Nope," I told him.

"You ready to go?" he asked me and I nodded my head. We walked to his car and I gave him my address. We listened to music the whole way to my house. Maybe he's just the right person at the right time? My parents would like him and we have good conversations.

"What's your number?" I asked him before saying, "You know in case you wanna like go to another party sometime," I said with a small laugh trying not to be so forward.

A smile appeared on his face before he pulled out a piece of paper and wrote it down. "Now this is strictly for party going," he joked with a small laugh giving me the piece of paper.

"Got it," I smiled before taking the paper from his hands and walking into my house. I walked up the stairs to my bedroom changing into something more comfortable. Once I changed I went into the bathroom to take off my makeup. My house was quiet so I was sort of scared walking around it. As I walked back to my room I heard a noise that made me run into my room and lock the door.

I ran to my phone calling Dani, luckily she picked up. "Hey um can you come over?" I asked her, "I'm just home alone and you know how much I hate that."

"Yeah I'll be there in a little," she said through the phone before I heard her talking to someone quietly away from the phone.

"Wait are you with someone?" I asked her wanting to know more.

"What- No, no," she forced a laugh.

"Danielle Carol Solace. Tell me the truth."

"I'm with someone but I'll be over in a little bit."

"Bring them over," I told her before hanging the phone up and turning the small tv in my room on. Who's the Boss? was on so I just decided to watch waiting for Dani to arrive with her special someone. I honestly can't believe she'd think I couldn't tell she was with someone.
