I abruptly glanced at his direction while his hand was on my arm, he showed a slight smile.

"I like your Talent, it's nice."

"What?"

"My Talent lets me copy others for a minute. I just copied yours and I like it. What's your name?"

"Skyler...what's yours?"

"Joshua, nice to meet you Skyler."

My eyes snap open. I'm in a different world now, a sudden leap through time. Oxygen forcefully enters my system, I'm gasping for it, begging. I'm already sitting up, clenching my chest, when did I do any of this?

Once again, I have to remind myself that I've just had the same nightmare I've been getting for months. Somehow, my body never gets used to these episodes I get every time I sleep, as if my memory gets wiped even though I know what to expect every night.

After doing my morning routine of walking around my room and calming myself down, I stayed in my room rather than confront my mum or even be anywhere near the both of them really.

I spent at least an hour pacing around my room and doing whatever I could to fidget with every sort of random object. At times I sat and repeatedly tapped on my desk, either with a pencil or my fingers. Other times I would walk around in my room thinking about scenarios which could play out when it came to confronting my mum. I was almost certain that her answer would be no by then, despite my hopeful attitude the day before. The argument I delivered to her was complete dog shit, I was sure of it, there was no way she would listen to that.

As I continued to fidget around to pass the time I quickly glanced at the homework I had stacked on the desk that was due next week, I sighed.

Please let me enlist...

I decided that it was a good time to actually clean up my room while I waited for some sort of signal to encourage my department. And so I started with my bed as I reluctantly pulled the sheets to their correct spot and I even patted them a little since I had time to waste. Soon after, I cleaned my desk up a little due to the massive assortment of paper and dust.

After I had finished cleaning up most of my room and distracting my inner thoughts, I heard a voice from the kitchen.

"Skyler, come here!"

It was her.

Whether I liked it or not, the final judgement was upon me.

This time around though, I didn't hesitate to open my door somehow. My emotions were hard to describe since there was practically nothing flowing through my head, just empty thoughts. Perhaps my talent was in action due to the previous stress clean-up, or maybe I was too exhausted to actually comprehend what was going on. Either way it did not matter, the door was opened and I made my way towards my impending doom.

As I approached the corner of that forsaken corridor, I saw her sitting at the end of the table drinking tea.

He wasn't there.

Any worries I had about not being worried anymore flew completely out the window as my heart sank and quickly started to batter in my chest. I worried about every worst possible scenario albeit there only was one bad scenario realistically. I had no idea what to say.

I mean, how the hell could I possibly start a conversation at this point?

Anything which came to mind felt way too awkward and she was simply sitting there doing noth-
