"Why are we going to your house and not the office?" we've never done a session anywhere besides the office because Candice says I'm already comfortable there and work should never mix with home.
"I already finished my day at work and I want to see my husband and kids and we're not doing a session anyways."
"then what are we doing," I say distracted by the smoothness of the leather seats. I wish I had a car but working at the coffee shop only does so much and I'm saving up money for college and I can't keep asking tony and Candice for money because I know it'll be a while until I can pay them back.
"you'll see," she says as she focuses on turning toward her street
we soon drive up Candice's driveway pulling up to her garage to see her husband tanner working on some type of construction project.
Candice grabs her purse and heads out of the car and I do the same we walk towards the garage door leading inside and she gets her husband's attention and gives him a quick kiss while I walk into the house.
I make my way in taking off my shoes and I feel a hand on my shin I look down to see a tiara with a pink pacifier. I smile down at her and pick her up.
"Hey, sweet girl" I coo tickling her little plumb tummy while she laughs digging her head on my shoulder.
Once Candice joins me inside I hand Tiara to her and walk out of the mudroom into the main house while Candice greets her baby girl in the background.
when I meet the living room I see Yolanda the nanny sitting at the table next to Benji as he eats and watches some type of entertainment.
Candice comes out and I sit down
"hey, Yolanda," Candice says as she hugs the woman.
"Hello mam" Yolanda greets
"I leave them to talk and turn towards Benji" as he's shoving his face with rice and chicken. "hey sir benjamin"
"Hey Layla," he says as he eats.
He smiles at me once he finishes chewing. "I got new trucks for my birthday and they're cool, can I show you after I finish?" he says as he tilts his head.
"Sure little man I'd love to!" I'd like to think Benji and I have a pretty good relationship. I've known him for about a year since he was three years old and I've seen him grow so much over this past year. Candices' family took me in and welcomed me with open arms and I think it's really helping me heal. Well, at least I think it does at least.
I decided to leave him alone to eat so he can show me his new toys later on.
"I'm finished," he says as he runs over to the kitchen and buts his favorite blue bowl in the sink "come on Layla"
"Ok, ok I'm coming" I run over to his bedroom to see him already on the floor pulling out his set of toy cars with different colors and designs. He hands me a red one "this one's my favorite one"
"Wow these are so cool Benji I'm so jealous" he looks up to me and shrugs "maybe your mom can buy some for your birthday" ouch. I know he doesn't know what happened in the past but it still kinda hurts. Sadly my mom won't be getting me anything for a while if she gets anything for me at all.
Soon I hear a knock against the door frame and see Candice leaning against it "sorry Benji I'm going to have to steal Layla from you. "Ok," he says with disappointment.
" bye Benji," I say with a wave. Candice signals me to follow her to her bedroom.
"You're really good with kids Layla" I shrug "I try"
