I woke up early to the loud music playing next door. The same songs every time. "At least they are good songs" I thought.I mean, who doesn't like rock? Listening to it, I started freshening up. After showering, I could not find my towel, though I was pretty sure I had kept it on the hanger. "Are you searching for this, Sire?" The voice took me by surprise and I immediately turned to see Beardo pointing to the towel that had fallen on the floor. Startled, I stuttered "w..what are you d doing here?" Before I could expect a reply, poof! He was gone.
"These youngsters are so mindless! Such loud music in the morning! Have they gone nuts? That too, what kind of music? Horrid!" How typical of Dad. Wait. DAD? What? When did he come? He wouldn't be back till next month.
I slowly crept down the stairs to be greeted by Dad's semi-bald head. Mom, as usual, was buttering the toast and listening to Dad's rant. I straightened myself and confidently walked down the stairs to face the two people who I 'love'.
My Dad and I stared at each other for 2.5 minutes (yep I was counting) and to break the awkward silence, Mom said "Up already Mike? That's unusual, considering your record for the past month." "What record?" Said Dad. There. It officially started. I quickly grabbed 2 pieces of toast and my bag and rushed out of the house. During this process, I heard Mom telling Dad about my "disobedience with ungratefulness and being cheeky to a person older to me"
I am tired of this life. I can't take it anymore. I sat on the bench of the park and saw the little kids playing cheerfully with no worries. I remember those days, where I thought I had the best parents and the best life. I used to keep chanting my favorite phrase- "hakuna matata!". I used to believe in magic, with fairies and pixies to cheer me up when I was sad. Little did I know growing up would be this bad. "what are you thinking about, Sire?" Asked the Beardo. "nothing.. Just.. Wait! how did you come here? How can you? You are just a character of my dream! How is it possible?" I gushed. "All your questions will be answered in some time, Your Majesty. Please have patience." He replied.
I waited for a few seconds to take all this in. "So , Your Majesty, you are in the mortal world now. All your memories of our world have somehow been wiped off your brain. Our scientists are working on how to get them.." The sound of cracking knuckles came from his pocket and he produced a weird looking bony structure. It had two hollow bones and a square shaped bone connecting the two. Beardo put one bone in his ear and one near his mouth and spoke. "Yes, Your Highness, its working. Yes yes i'm speaking to him right now. What! That is not possible! How?! I'll be right there." He said into the bone phone.
"please forgive me Sire, but I have to go. We'll meet soon and that's an oath." He said and vanished into thin air again.*******
