Meeting Reese

~ Time skip to next scene ~

Reese and Chase are sitting on the couch, holding hands and giggling their butts off. Bree is halfway sitting on the couch, Skylar checking the outside, Oliver leaning over the couch, Kaz sitting in a chair next to the couch, Mason in another chair on the opposite side, Zoey in the kitchen drinking juice, and you and Dylan behind the couch, farthest away from Chase and Reese. Confusion and a bit of anger are stained on your face and Dylan can tell. Skylar turns around and makes her way to the inside of the Penthouse. "Douglas was right, the sirens are really loud out there," she says with concern in her voice, meanwhile Bree is staring at her brother and the new girl in the house. Nearly interrupting her, she says "yeah, I'm a little bit more concerned about what's going on over here," she says, motioning towards the two on the couch. She rises up from the couch and your brown, confused eyes follow her. "So, how exactly did you meet?" she asks awkwardly. "Or... are you here against your will? Blink twice if you need me to step in" she nods, leaning closer to the two. Chase is confused and a bit annoyed. He shakes his head and starts explaining. You walk just a little closer to them as he starts to talk. "Well, uh, I was at the library looking for a bit of light reading on quantum physics," Chase starts as Kaz cringes. "Just hearing those words in a sentence makes my head hurt," he says. Chase completely ignores him and continues, "when I noticed Reese" he smiles as he turns to look at her, you also cringe, "was writing a term paper on the poly-exclusion principal" he nods with pride. Reese also nods, smiling. "Stop, you're burning my brain!" Kaz continues and Chase's face grows with confusion towards him. He shakes his head and turns towards Reese once again. "I thought he was cute, so I said hi!" she bubbles, Chase looking at her again and Reese squeezing his arm. Chase decides to finish. "And three hours later, we're dating!" he cries. Your face grows a little hurt, almost, like something doesn't sit right with you. "But you just met?" Bree asks. "We're dating!" her brother shouts at her. A distressed inhale and exhale make their way out of you. Dylan's dark blue eyes look at you with concern. "Y/n," she starts, snapping you to reality. "Are you okay?" she asks, putting her hand on your shoulder. It takes everything in you to not tell the truth. You nod. "Yeah" you nod vigorously, trying to look as nonchalant as possible. "I'm fine. I'm really happy for Chase" you smile as real as you can. Dylan's face doesn't you believe but says "ok." "Reese, why don't you get to know everybody while I make us a snack?" Chase smiles at her. She nods at him. He gets up, still looking at her and holding her hand until the very last second when he turns away and goes to the kitchen. Reese turns to the others and pouts with heart-eyes, "isn't he cute?" Kaz grows confused. "Who?" "Chase" Reese responds like it's obvious. With a bit of confusion, Bree starts to sit down next to Reese. "I'm worried about you" she giggles and puts one hand on her back and the other on her arm. "I just can't stand being so far away from him" she pouts and you sneer in disgust, shaking your head. Mason looks at you, somewhat sad. He has a crush on you but knows you like Chase. Dylan and Zoey look at each other in slight confusion and also some concern. "He's right-" Skylar starts, gesturing to the kitchen, and Reese cuts her off, her smile immediately fading. "I know where, he is, I just miss him" her head jolts toward Skylar. You roll your eyes. Your eyes immediately go back to chase as he skips back to the couch, holding a plate of snacks. Heartbreak enters your body as you see him sit down next to her. "Thank you, pookie bear," "You're welcome pookie bear" they start to say back and forth, your eyes shooting from Chase to Reese and back multiple times, confused and taken aback. "Who's a good pookie bear?" Reese teases him as you cringe. "I'm a good pookie bear!" he giggles and you gag. Everyone cringes at that last part and Kaz starts to get up from his chair. "Ok, yeah, I can't watch this anymore. Bree, can you burn my retinas with your flashlight hands?" he asks. Bree grows annoyed and Douglas enters the room from up the stairs. "Can I have a word with you guys?" he asks, everyone looking to him. You, Dylan, Mason, Zoey, Skylar, and Oliver all make their way over to Douglas. "In private" Douglas emphasizes, mostly looking towards Chase and Reese. "With pleasure" Kaz turns sharply toward the two as well. "Would you excuse us, pookie bear?" Chase says in baby like tone. You look back at them and cringe even more before turning completely back to Douglas. Chase finally gets up and makes his way over to the bunch. "I told you guys something weird was going on. I was just watching the Channel 5 news with Chip and Dixie, and they said strange things have been happening all over the city" concern grows on his face. "What kind of weird things?" Skylar asks. "Other than the cutesie twins over here and people calling themselves Chip and Dixie?" she cringes. "Fires, ruptured gas lines, all sorts of random destruction. And get this, eyewitnesses are saying it all started with a mysterious black swarm" he finishes as he puts quotes around 'mysterious black swarm' with his fingers. You grow confused for a different reason now, and Chase's face grows concerned. "Hey, we know a mysterious black swarm!" Kaz bubbles. "Oh," he says, as the realization hits. "Roman and Riker" Chase growls. "Hey, hold on. Let's not jump to conclusions, it is tornado season," Oliver suggests. "He's not the only one who watches Chip and Dixie" he smiles. "Roman and Riker must be changing up their strategy. Instead of attacking us, they're attacking the citizens of Centium City" Chase forgets all about Reese and his face grows angrier. "Why?" Oliver questions. Skylar answers, "Because they couldn't get our list of the superhero locations" and to finish off, Kaz replies, "instead of fighting the superheroes themselves, I bet they're trying to lure them out by using innocent civilians as bait." "I better go downstairs and warn the superheroes" Skylar sighs before walking to the Hyperlift. Once Skylar gets to the door, the lights shut off in an instant. Everyone looks around at each other in fear, you with wide eyes. Reese questions what just happened. Bree rushes to the giant windows and comes to the conclusion that the whole city just went dark. "Don't just stand there, turn on your flashlight hands" Kaz says dead serious. Again, Bree is not amused. "This isn't good," Douglas shakes his head. "Guys, suit up and get moving!" he tells you guys. You nod your head and start to run upstairs but are the last person in line to head up before Chase does. "Got it, whatever you do, though, do not let her leave!" he yells in a whisper pointing toward Reese. Suddenly, she is confused and a bit 'startled.' He then realizes what he just said and changes his scary facial expression to face her. You start to slowly turn your head, cringing once again to see if he was coming or not. "Uh, I mean, it's really dangerous out there. You should probably stay with Douglas" he smiles, gesturing toward his uncle. She nods in agreement. "Okay." "Alrighty then" he chuckles. You look from Reese to Chase and back while rolling your eyes and it takes everything in you not to vomit, even though you're more so hurt than disgusted. He turns back to Douglas and you are back to looking at only Chase. Chase takes you aback when his tone goes back to before. "Do not let her leave" he whispers aggressively to Douglas, and you just decide to head up the stairs already, whether he follows you or not.
