Chapter 1"Of course the show's already canceled! Eris have you forgotten about the storm?!" Kuya Dennis who was on watch for the night told me with a laugh.
"Yeah, I guess I am too drowned in my own worries." I said with a sad smile on my face.
"Whatever those worries are don't let them get to you. Stay here until the rain weakens then drive safely back home." He told me as he offered me a warm cup of coffee. "Thank you kuya." I said as I took the coffee and pulled my jacket closer to my body for warmth.
Today wasn't a good one and I think it is pretty obvious, my girl friend broke up with me. Imagine, she managed to do it on a night before Christmas. But it doesn't matter at least she has been true with her feelings towards me and our relationship.
But I can't deny, it hurts.
Then my phone rang, dragging me out of my reverie. I answered the phone and was surprised on who was calling me at this time.
"Karen. What's the matter?" I asked casually.
"Can you fetch me? I'm stuck in my car and it won't even start! Why is this happening?! F*ck." I heard her say, furious with every word she dropped.
"Karen, I am not your driver and most of all were already over for 6 months. So please give me a decent reason why I should go fetch you?" I said as I tried to sound cold and harsh.
"I don't know. But please, just this once I am in dire need of someone to help me. Please Eris." She said as I heard her sob, I imagine her in her car crying and smudging her make up. I imagine her hurt and maybe even wounded.
But why me, why did she call me of all people in her contacts?
But despite everything I found myself comforting her and even assured her that I'll go find her under the raging storm.
"Eris! The rain hasn't calmed down yet!" Kuya Dennis shouted as I run for my car.
"It's fine kuya, don't worry I will be fine. I just need to find a friend." I shouted before I went inside the comforts of my car.
I shook my head as I realized of how stupid I am for doing this, Karen and I has been childhood friends and we were once engaged but she broke it off because of her career and this guy who was her on-screen partner.
But despite it, I still loved her from a far. Even after every girl I had it is still her.
It is her who can make a fool out of me.
I hate to admit it, but I am batshit crazy for her. And I can't let any harm befall her.
"Karen." I said as she answered my call. "Tell me where are you?" I asked as calmly as I could. "I don't know." She said as I recognized that she is stuttering from the cold weather.
"How the h*ll am I gonna find you? Tell me a landmark. I am sure there is one." I said as I felt my temper growing hot.
"I can see the Sandigan Bayan from where I am parked." She said as I heard her deep breaths.
"Stay there, I am just almost 5 minutes away." And with that I hung the phone.
