It was no surprise that he courted her. Buhle gushed over the whole thing, while Musa was constantly blushing and saying no to him.
She did like him, but he came on too hard. He was openly courting her. Showing up at her work, and calling her friend when she wasn't answering his calls. Constantly taking her out, buying her gifts. She loved the last one he bought, she has to admit. It was a set of scrunchies for her braids along with hairpins and the like.
Before all his gifts, she bought him a set of cufflinks, when she came across them. Buhle was shopping for a gala dinner and she had tagged along to help her when she saw a set of cufflinks with "D" initials. She doesn't know what the initial stands for, but for her it meant Daniel. Meaning he had to have them.
And darn it, they were half her salary. But the look on his face as she gave them to him? She knew it was worth it.
And it was then that he decided to always get her something. He has begun to call her "mine." And it was heartwarming. Though, she knew he was moving too fast. When she asks about it or talks about it, he says there's no right pace. That he knows what he wants and won't hesitate to have it.
Two months, it has been. And they never had sex since the car scenes. He simply never brought it up and she was too shy to ask. In his mind, moving too fast would be focusing on the sex and not the other aspects of building the relationship that he knows he wants.
"My family is having a gathering tonight, we need to go shopping for a cake...or any dessert." He said on the video call. He bought her a Bluetooth earpiece so they could talk with her phone in the pocket of her tight jeans. He loved those jeans. He loved every piece of clothing she owned.
"I can bake. I love baking, I don't mind. I'll have to come over though, my oven isn't working anymore. I overused it." She said quickly, feeling excited about getting to bake again. But she paused and thought about what they both just said.
"Wait, what?! You...you want me to come along?! I can't meet your parents! It's been only a few weeks since we started...you know...whatever this is." She felt her palms sweat. No, not yet.
Daniel sighed, "Musa, they've been wanting to host you for so long. Let's surprise them! I haven't told them about us. We can just act like you've finally decided to grace them with your presence. Everyone really feels like they owe you. You saved our princess. I don't know what would've been of me if you hadn't. It would've been on me, her death and pain. My parents would've felt so devastated. My step mom, she...she always felt like she's not doing enough for us. We always made her feel small like that, because we missed our mom. We were bad to her as kids and she still carries that with her no matter how many times we assure her that we were just being spiteful little shits. I can't imagine the depression she would've slipped into if Nora was hurt. Please? Let them meet you. Let them say thank you." He felt his throat burn at the thought of Nora. His sister almost disappeared. He almost lost her. And Musa saved her. It was still a sensitive matter.
She sighed, shakingly. "Okay. I'm going to need you to hold my hand the entire time."
"I know the drill." He smiled to himself, having learned how to help her calm down when she gets anxious.
"Good. I have to go, lunch is over. See you soon." She knew he would come fetch her after work, so they can go back to his house and bake.
"Do you still love me?" He asked, feeling giddy.
This caused Musa to scoff and roll her eyes. "Goodbye, Daniel."
"Yes you do. You love me. You told me yourself."
"Daniel, stop." She smiled, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"That's not what you said, you didn't want me to stop." He chuckled.
