The girl watches as the water reaches her feet and the sun rise in the distance. Clad inside a towel to warm her up, she's sitting on the rough sand, gazing at the horizon and watching the rising star. Her family is visiting the beach together with other relatives. She watches as her little sibling and cousins run towards the shallow water of the sea, giggling as they come crashing down on the salty liquid.
She walks closer to where her shins are now submerged underwater. The cold air greets her face, flapping her hair all over the place. Sometimes, things just never change, and sometimes it doesn't need to be. Like how the waves still crashes on the shore and like how the sun still rise on the horizon. Life is not all about changing, but also accepting. Letting go of matters that aren't in her control and letting it be free on their own. She's still learning how to properly swim and how to traverse in this massive sea of endless storms and waves. There are a lot more islands to explore, underwater caverns that she hasn't seen before. There are a lot that she still doesn't know, but with the knowledge that she has, she understands that life will always be the same, full of surprises that she will face.
She will still cry, she will still be afraid, but she will still go forward no matter what it takes. She will still feel sad and take breaks, but she knows to herself that she will never let herself stop halfway. There will always be that dark place that will never disappear, and she accepts it, because it molded her to be who she is. She will make mistakes, and she's learning to be okay with it. She's letting herself float, to be free of the worries that bind her to the prison she made for herself. She's moving on. She's taking a step forward to the happiness that she longs. Letting go doesn't mean forgetting. It means closing a door holding what she has learned and opening a new one to explore and once again learn from.
