For several days without an end, the male Adeptus had shown the whole of Liyue to the girl. The fact that Liyue has changed was an understatement. Although mountains and such maintained the same, the living beings, cultures, and traditions had changed over time. (Y/N) had personally thought it was nice to witness Liyue evolving forward, however it was so strange for her that the Adepti barely played a part in it all anymore. After all, the Adepti have lent their strength to fond the now standing Liyue. Even if they only knew how to protect Liyue was fighting for the land, they still played a major part in it all nonetheless. But some things couldn't be changed anymore. Xiao told the girl that it was now the Qixing who ruled almost over the whole of Liyue, instead of Rex Lapis. To think that mere mortals were given such high power and responsibility was unthinkable.

But it was something they had to accept because the Adepti were now only mere characters helping from the back alleys. Most humans even forgot that their existence was still very present at that time.

One of the locations which they visited together was the so-called "Wangshu Inn", which is a landmark south of Dihua Marsh, built upon a massive stone pillar. Apparently, it was built to provide visibility and it was a strategic point that was meant to be defended at all costs. It was a place where dozens of merchants stopped by on their journey to sell their ware, and it also gave them an opportunity to set up their stalls for a short while. From the top of the inn, you could see all the way to Mt. Qingce and Jueyun Karst in the distance, and the view from the balcony was utterly breathtaking indeed.

The inn was run by a woman named Verr Goldet and her husband Huai'an, who were both secret agents under the Liyue Qixing, reporting directly to Ningguang.  The commercial aspect of the inn is a front to their real task of covertly assisting the Vigilant Yaksha Xiao in his excursions of excising plagues from Liyue. So at the end of the day, this place was where Xiao spent some of his free time, even if he claimed to say that "Demons never take a break".

The two discreetly appeared out of thin air on the balcony of the inn where it was deserted by people. It was by now sunset, as the orange hues painted the sky like a painting. (Y/N) leaned her elbows on the railing, enjoying the breeze which soothed her skin, and closed her eyes as she breathed in the fresh air which was brought all the way from the fields of Mondstadt. Two distant eyes stared at her resting form, a small curve taking its place on his face. The girl looked over at Xiao, only to catch him staring. Xiao immediately withdrew his gaze, fixating it on the view before them, as his face started taking upon the color of a freshly plucked tomato.

"Do you think that one day perhaps... We might be set free from our duty? No longer have the need to purge all demons?" (Y/N)'s voice was small, slightly fearing the boy's answer, because she knew that Xiao took his duties seriously. Not that she didn't, but as trauma tainted her, her desire was no longer to kill without an end. (Y/N) wanted a life which the humans prescribed as "average".  To wake up in the morning, greet their loved ones with a smile, go to work, come back home, and then spend the rest of the day however they desired to. Perhaps... The involvement of a family didn't even sound all too bad.
