IT WAS AWFULLY COLD for this April day, mostly due to the chilly winds. It was nice and sunny, but windy. You woke up, did your morning routine, just the usual. The same boring thing each and everyday.
Sometimes you wished that there was something that would just spark in front of you. Something that would just spark and create something new. Even the slightest nuance would do.
Something exciting.
Something different.
Although, you have been busy a bit lately with work and all. There weren't a lot of kids in the daycare, only six to be exact, but it's still challenging. Recently, it was up to you to watch over the kids after school by yourself since the only other staff member who watched the kids during the school day resigned due to health reasons.
It was fine, you always had a great time with the kids and they always seemed to have fun with you, but it was much harder since they were 2-3 years old and one of them was a baby still. The position of your previous co-worker was still open, but the principle has told you that many have applied and soon you'd have help again.
You soon arrived at Karasuno. You always made the effort to get to school early so that you wouldn't have to rush or panic at the possibility of being late. It also allowed for you to relax and get work done if you felt like it so you didn't have a lot to do later, despite it being seven in the morning.
You went to your normal spot outside which was just a bench that was a bit hidden from view because of the trees and flower bushes that surrounded it. It wasn't like it was a secret place, but usually it was just you who'd sit there. When you arrived, you were surprised to see a blonde girl there.
She was reading a book when she heard your footsteps approaching. You made eye contact, but once she saw you she freaked out and looked back at her book. You then saw the familiar hair clip.
"Hello, Hitoka-chan!" You greeted as she looked up slightly at the mention of her name and you could see that she began to relax a bit.
"(Y/N)-nee-san?" The girl asked as you grinned and nodded.
"Mind if I sit with you?" You asked and she smiled and moved her bag.
You've known Hitoka since you were ten and she was eight since the two of you live in the same apartment complex. Often you'd have keep each other company since both of your parents worked a lot and because of that the both of you considered yourselves as pseudo-sisters.
"I didn't really think that anybody knew of this spot." You commented thoughtfully as you looked over at the tiny flower buds on the bush. "What are you doing here by yourself?"
"I'm just reading this book my friend recommended to me." She answered as she held up the book to you. It was a leather book with only the title on the front page that you couldn't quit make out. "I think it's pretty good!"
"That's good that you like it!" You told her as the younger girl smiled. You took out your own work that you planned to do while Hitoka continued to read. Soon classes were about to start and you offered to walk with Hitoka to her class.
"How's school right now for you? Are your classes easy? Hard?" You decided to ask. "I can help you with anythinf if you need it."
"It's okay right now. Thank you though, (Y/N)-nee-san!"
"What about clubs? Are you in any yet?"
Yachi sighed, "Um, no... I just haven't found any that I like yet."
"You know it's required for first years to join a club." You reminded her as she nodded defeatedly. You patted her shoulder in reassurance, "Cheer up, though. I'm sure something will grab your attention someway."
"What did you do in your first year?" The blonde asked curiously.
"Well, I was in the art club."
Yachi's turned at you with surprise in her eyes, "Nee-chan! I didn't know that you could draw!"
"Yeah, I can't" You chuckled as you remembered all the terrible drawings you made. "Somehow I was convinced that I would become the world's greatest artist back then. I'll just stick to writing for now."
She remarked, "You probably should."
"Hitoka-chan!" You gasped jokingly as she stuck her tongue out playfully at you. You both laughed as a thought came to mind, "Hey, you're good with art, so why don't you join the art club?"
"I could, but I want to join something new first. If I can't find anything, then maybe i'll join the art club!"
"That's a nice plan. Well good luck in finding what you'd like to join." You told her as she gave a thumbs up. Suddenly you thought about the volleyball team and how Kiyoko mentioned to you about how she wants to start looking for anyone to become a manager so that the position would be filled once the third years graduate. "Oh! Maybe you could- Sorry."
You were cut off when you accidentally bumped into someone. "Oh, (L/N)! I'm sorry, it was my fault." The person said and you instantly recognized who it was.
"No, it's my fault. I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking."
"But I was and could've walked around but I didn't!"
You both went silent after then laughed as Hitoka just blankly stared, "It's both our faults. Sorry about that." You said.
"Yeah, sorry again." Suga apologized as he noticed Hitoka. "Hi, sorry for holding you guys up. I'm Sugawara."
Hitoka tensed up once she realized that he was introducing himself to her and hid herself behind you. You laughed nervously and scratched your head, "Sorry, she's a bit shy towards new people."
"Understandable." Sugawara said as the bell rang signifying that there was five minutes left before classes would begin.
"Oh shoot, we should go. I said that I would walk Hitoka to her class today so i'll see you later, Suga." You waved at the male, but shortly after you began to have another coughing fit.
"Nee-san!" Hitoka voiced as she tried to pat your back. You cringed at how bad your cough was. "Are you okay?"
You nodded your head, "I'm fine. It's probably just because of allergies with the season change and all." Hitoka didn't looked convinced at all.
"Perhaps we should take you to the nurse. That cough didn't really sound so good, (L/N)" Sugawara stated next as Hitoka nodded her head furiously. You could see that the both of them were concerned.
"Thanks guys, but I promise i'll be fine. I'll be fine later in the day." You reassured as you took out your water bottle to take a sip of water. "Well. That kind of wasted time so we might as well all go to class now. Sorry, Hitoka-chan, I guess i'll just walk you another time."
"No, it's all okay! I hope your allergies will get better later!" Hitoka told you as you waved goodbye to her. You and Sugawara headed back the opposite direction to go upstairs where your classroom was.
Meanwhile, as Hitoka watched your figure disappear, she couldn't help but watch you with concern. Your cough really didn't sound good and it certainly didn't sound like a cough from allergies. Then, she noticed something on the ground that dropped as you walked away while chatting with Sugawara.
Three pink carnations.
