August 15th. Afternoon.
The car ride was quiet. The only sound to be heard was the radio. Vincenzo kept the radio on a lower volume, surprisingly. Normally the thing would be blaring, but not right now.
"We'll be stopping in Firenze for a couple days to give us some time to recover. Hopefully that's not a problem for some of us." Vincenzo told them, glancing at Elio in the rearview mirror. Elio said nothing.
They stopped at a nearby gas station to grab a few snacks, Elio stayed in the car. He turned the volume up on the radio, and the news had started.
"Recently, a young man from Milano has been deemed missing. 16-year-old Luka Ancellotti was reported kidnapped from his home with no evidence left behind to suggest where he may be. Authorities request any and all clues, no matter how minuscule or unimportant they may seem, be reported as soon as possible."
Elio sat, shocked at what he'd heard. Somebody was missing, with no leads on where he was? It was strange, that's for sure.
The other three came back not long after. Giulia had grabbed a few drinks, some candy bars, and a couple bags of chips for the ride. Fibonacci had grabbed a newspaper to keep themself occupied, and Vincenzo had just paid for gas without getting anything else. They continued on to Firenze without an issue.
"I called a hotel in the city, managed to get a couple rooms for two nights. Giulia and Mr Sunshine can stay in one, and Fibonacci and I will stay in the other. Hopefully that works." Vincenzo informed them. Nobody said anything, but he was met with silent nods.
They made it to Firenze and found the hotel within about an hour of their pitstop. "Thank god, finally room to stretch!" Giulia exclaimed, getting out of the car. They made it to Firenze and found the hotel within about an hour of their pitstop. "Thank god, finally room to stretch!" Giulia exclaimed, getting out of the car, stretching.
The team checked in and everybody went up to their hotel rooms. The second she and Elio walked in, Giulia made a beeline for one of the beds. She jumped in it, sighing happily. "Finally, a chance to relax." Elio took off his boots and his cape and jumped in the other bed. It felt just like sleeping on a cloud, it was that soft.
Giulia sat up and took off her hat, grabbing a pair of lollipops out of it. She tossed one over to Elio and stuck the other in her mouth. "So what are we gonna do for the rest of the day?" She asked. Elio shrugged and stuck the lollipop in his mouth. "I'm not sure. Either we can wait for Vincenzo to tell us what to do, or we can just hang out here for a while." He answered.
Just as he said that, the phone rang. Elio answered it. "Hello?" He said, although it sounded more like a question. "Damn, I was hoping Giulia was gonna pick up the phone. Whatever, I guess." Vincenzo answered, annoyed. Giulia grabbed the phone from him "Any news, Vin? What are we doing next?" She asked. She nodded a few times. "Uh huh. Yep. Gotcha, see you in a couple hours." She hung up.
"What did he say?" Elio asked her. Giulia smiled. "We get to relax for a couple hours. We're meeting up in the hotel lobby to plan our next move afterwards." She informed him. "And until then..." Giulia started, laying down, putting her hands behind her head. "...I plan to take a nap. You do whatever, my guy." She finished.
Elio thought for a bit and decided he'd take a nap too. He was already in bed, so why not? He took off his jacket and crawled under the covers, getting comfortable. He was out like a light in seconds.

Giulia couldn't bring herself to sleep.
Something had been bothering her, and she just couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was bound to happen. She hopped out of bed and left the room, leaving a note for Elio telling him where she'd gone.
