Chapter nine

Alexa's P.O.V

I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs, which by the way they smell amazing. I got up and realized I was in Connor's room. I got up and grabbed my bag. I went into the bathroom and got dressed. I put on black leggings, a white band T-shirt, a white bandana, and black combat boots. I put my hair in a loose messy bun and put my makeup on. I put mascara,Black eye liner, white eyes shadow, and a light red lipstick on.

"Hurry up in there!" Kian said knocking on the door.

"Oh, you can wait!" I said back laughing. I walked out and went downstairs.

"Bout' time" Ricky said laughing.

"Oh, shut up" I said pushing him.

"Ouch!" He said running into the counter. We all sat at the bar and ate our food.

"So what are we doing today?" Kian asked putting another spoonful of food in his mouth.

"Can we go to the mall" I asked getting up and picking Vega up.

"I guess"Jc said.

"We could go to the mall in Hollywood." Ricky said looking at his phone.

"Okay!" I said getting up and going upstairs. When I got to Connors room to grab my bag, my phone started ringing. "Hello?" I asked.

"Hey it's Ben are we still on for lunch?" The voice asked.

"Oh yah! Umm, yes we are still on. How about we meet at the mall in Hollywood?" I asked hoping he would say yes.

"Sure that sounds great! See you at 12:30" he replied.

"Bye" I said hanging the phone up. "Crap!" It was already 11:30 and I needed to change. I ran to my bag and grabbed my pink, tight, strapless dress, and white converse. I quickly changed and grabbed my makeup bag. I wiped off the other make up and put white eyeshadow, pink lipstick, and a little blush. I grabbed my backpack and vega, which I brought upstairs with me for no reason. I quickly walked down the stairs and the boys were going to the door.

"Wow, look who dressed up for the mall" Kian said laughing.

"Why did you change? I liked your other outfit too." Connor asked.

"Oh, umm, I'm going on a date. I forgot but it won't be long, long, but I will catch up with you later okay?" I said giving them all a hug. I handed Vega to Jc and he looked puzzled at me.

"A date?" Connor said looking stunned.

"Yah, sorry guys, I promise I'll make it up to you" I said walking out the door. I kept replaying that look Connor gave me when I said date. I drove to the mall which took about 20 minutes and I walked inside to the fountain. I saw Ben sitting on the side looking at his phone.

"Ben! It's me!" I said as he looked up and smiled. I walked over to him and gave him a hug. The next couple hours went by and we had fun. We ate first, then did a little shopping. In the end we were really tired but we were happy.

"So I'll see you later?" He asked as he hugged me goodbye.

"Yah sure" I said even though there was something missing. Connor. "Bye" I said waving. I walked over to the entrance and sat down on the bench. I pulled out my phone and went to Connors name.

Text message

Me: hey can you come get me?

Connor: sure :|

Me: Thanks :)

Connor: Is everything ok?

Me: not really, I had fun, but I don't think I like him.

Connor: oh, okay on my way :)

Me: ok

End of message

I sat there for about 20 minutes until I saw Connor walk in.

"Hey" I said getting up.

"Hey, you look beat" he said laughing.

"Well thanks" I said sarcastically.

"No problem, so do you want to go home or what?" He asked as we got to the car.

"I need to run by my aunts house to get a couple things. You cold come over if you want" I said plugging my phone in and turning my music on. I put American Authors in and I was jamming out to their songs.

"Sure, that sounds like fun" he said laughing. About 20 minutes later we pulled up to my aunts house. I got out and walked onto the porch, soon followed by Connor. I picked the key up from under the mat and opened the door. I walked in and headed upstairs. We made it to my room, which had been cleaned.

"So you like it?" I asked laughing.

"Yah it's... Pretty" he said sitting down on the window seat. I went to my closet and grabbed sweatpants and a t-shirt. I walked into the bathroom and got changed. I wiped off my makeup and brushed my hair out. I put it into a loose ponytail and went back into the bedroom.

"So, do you want to do anything?" I asked opening my door. "We can go watch a movie." I said looking up at him.

"Sure thing Alexandria" he said saying the name I am not fond of.

"Don't call me that" I said looking down.

"Why?" He said getting up.

"It's nothing, let's go" I said walking downstairs. I couldn't tell him why I didn't want to be called that name, because it was too painful.

Flashback

"ALEXANDRIA! Get down here now." My mother screamed as I smelled smoke coming from the kitchen.

"Mom help Me!" I screamed as I tried to open my door. The fired came from all directions. I finally got the door to open and I ran downstairs. The fire stung my neck and I felt my hair get hot.

"Alexandria, come on get up, and go. Get out of here!" My daddy said with an urgent sounding voice.

"I can't breathe!" I said coughing.

"Alexandria, Alexandria! Go!" He said. The next thing I remembered, I was in the hospital with burns to my neck and my head. Almost all my hair was gone and it hurt to breathe.

"Sweetheart, are you awake?" I heard my mom say. I nodded my head.

"Where's...daddy?" I said barely getting it out. Right after I said that she bursted into tears. "Where is he?" I asked again only this time, I was a little louder.

"Baby, daddy didn't...he didn't make it...out of the fire." She said through her sobs.

"Daddy? He's....gone?" I asked almost in tears.

"Alexandria I'm-"she said but I cut her off.

"I want to be called Alexa now" I said as I looked away.

End of flashback

"Alexa, what's wrong?" Connor asked running down the stairs after me.

"Nothing, okay, I was just playing" I said trying to fake a smile.

"Alexa,look at me" Connor said grabbing my shoulders. "Tell me what's wrong" he said as his voice got softer. I looked away, but he grabbed my chin softly and turned it toward him.

"Let me go and I will show you." I said. He let go and I turned around. I moved my ponytail out of the way and showed him the scar. I turned back around and he looked surprised and sad at the same time.

"What happened?" He asked pulling me in for a hug.

"I was eight. Our house caught on fire and it was bad. I tried getting out, but I fell. My dad...he helped me up and got me down the stairs. I woke up in a hospital and...and my mom told me he didn't...she told me he didn't make it out" I said as I bursted into tears. I stood there hugging Connor and not crying or anything, just standing.

"I'm going to find a movie." I said letting go and went to the living room. I found a. Movie and we sat down on the couch. Not long after, Connor was sound asleep. What did I do? Now he is going to feel sorry for me, I thought right before I fell asleep...
