I woke up to an annoying buzz in my ears, my ears were ringing. I quickly rubbed them and looked around the room for a second. It was like I was mad all over again, I was hoping I would forget about what Rebecca admitted to Brittany, but now I’m just more irate than ever. I swung my legs off the bed and stood up, rubbing my eyes as I made my way to the bathroom. After I took care of my hygiene business, I escorted out of the room and meandered downstairs to see Brittany and Rebecca snickering to one another, they had then exchanged a glance at me, and went back to doing whatever it was that freshmen college students talk about. I went into the kitchen to sight Brandon sitting at the dining room table, eating a piece of French toast. I gazed at him and took a granola bar out of the bowl that sat on the island counter.
“Good morning.” He said aloud, watching my every move, from the moment I grabbed the granola bar to the part where I strolled to the table to sit down and started eating it.
“Good morning.” I greeted back, chewing it and staring at him blankly at the same time. I know we’re kind of on a rocky point right now, but I really need someone to vent out to, and I didn’t want to vent to Mr. or Mrs. Zeleski about my problems. Speaking of which, are they even here?
“Where are Walter and Marceline?” I suddenly asked, wrinkling my eyebrow, realizing that I called their parents by their first names for the first time.
“My dad’s at work, like usual. And my mom’s running errands. She won’t be back until sometime at night.” He informed, messing with his hands at first as they started to get sticky from some of the syrup.
I stared at him, his hair was so messy, but it was a sexy type of messy. I like it. I bit my lip at him as he pushed his tray away, gazing down at the table. I gave him another blank expression as I swallowed my last pulverized piece of granola bar.
After it fell silent, he had then looked back at me and opened his mouth hesitantly, “Hey, um, I’m sorry for um, almost putting you at risk. I guess I was too competitive over who gets more of you, and I wanted for him to just eff off. You know?” He questioned, settling his green eyes into mine.
“It’s okay, I guess.” I mumbled, fiddling with my fingers. He exchanged a smile at me and said nothing else, and I threw on a semi-grin. As we drowned in silence again, I wanted to break it. "So…” My voice had wandered off as he straightened up and scooted his chair closer to mine.
“Yes?” He said, edging on curiosity.
“I found out that um, Rebecca is the reason for why I got evicted.” I forced it out of my mouth like it wasn’t a big deal, but it was, I was just trying to keep calm. Brandon gave me a confused glare, and straightened his back, not saying a word. I gave him a look with my mouth wide open, and I turned to my fingers, “I mean, I know it’s a speechless concept. I was shocked too.”
He gazed at me, “I’m so sorry.”
His green eyes had softened when he said that, and it made him look more sympathetic. I continued to play with my fingers, “It’s alright. I’m just going to pretend I never eavesdropped, you know? I-”
“Wait, you eavesdropped on Rebecca when she was talking about it?” He questioned, interrupting me. I nodded my head stiffly, trying so hard to not get irate all over again like last night.
He breathed out a sigh of frustration, “Well, like I said, I’m sorry. That was pretty low of her. Are you-”
“Brandon,” Brittany had quickly snapped, peering her head around the corner by the pantry closet. We both turned to her at the same time. “Me and Rebecca are going out for smoothies. Don’t need us, Mmkay?” She asked while putting on her shades.
