Hawk has started to miss the smell of mint chocolate chip and having to explain everything after just three days. Three full days and him and Kody hadn't talked. After their argument in Clearlake, they drove home and went their separate ways. Kody wasn't much different, he started to miss him too. He hadn't realized his much space Hawk took up in his life until his days no longer consisted of him."Headed out?" Jimmy asked, looking up from his computer.
"Moons having a little get together for the end of summer." Kody said, pulling on a red flannel with a pet to Mantises head. "Where's Momma?"
"Emergency appointment. Someone got a comb stuck in their hair and decided to chop it off." Jimmy cringed slightly at the thought. "I tried to stay away from the details."
Kody cracked a grin, hesitating. "Can I ask you something?"
Jimmy looked over in a panic. "I don't want you to do drugs."
"What? I'm not." he said back with a crazy look. "Why would you-"
"You're going to a party." he explained with an odd look. "No heavy drugs, Kody. We already know you smoke weed, you are terrible at hiding it."
"I'm not talking about drugs." he sighed, sitting down on the couch. "You remember, a while back, how when you and Aunt Jenny were married, you said you loved her but not in the way you were suppose to love her?"
Jimmy cleared his throat. "Sure, yeah. Why do you ask?"
"I was just wondering what you meant by that." Kody scratched his eye, crossing on leg as he listened.
"Well, your Aunt Jenny was my best friend. I loved her, truly, but it was more platonic then anything. You can love people so much that you convince yourself that it's in a romantic way." he explained, Kody soaked up every word. "I felt like, if I loved her that much, why couldn't I marry her?"
"Yeah, but how'd you know it was just platonic? Because she liked girls?" Kody gave a questionable look.
"No, I think I knew a long time before I knew she liked girls." he shook his head, exhaling. "Before your mother, I had only ever loved one other person. And when I was with Jenny, it was never as close to how I felt for her. I could remember it so well, still can. That's how I know I loved your mother, because I had that same feeling."
"When did you know her?" Kody asked him curiously.
"High school." Jimmy answered with a half smile. "She'd been apart of our friend group, wait around Cobra Kai for us all the time. We were so close, you know, I felt like I could tell her anything. And, when i'd wake up, I was actually excited to go to school to see her. It was weird, and painful, but I loved her more then anything else."
"So, what happened?" Kody gave an odd look. "You ask her out?"
"What? God, no." Jimmy laughed loudly, shaking his head. "No. No. You see, son, that was the problem. While I was in love with her, she was head over heels for someone else."
