The sound of my heels sounded across the hallway like the rest of the girls

The sound of my heels sounded across the hallway like the rest of the girls. After some time practicing to walk in heels, it really paid off since this time nobody pointed or whispered about me. I fit in exactly with the other. Just like yesterday, I bumped into a wall. But today, it's an actual wall but with achievements framed on it. I squinted my eyes as I scanned the wall. Most of the certificates has my last name on them. Starting from the earliest which is my great-grandparents name, their siblings, then grandparents and granduncles and grandaunts and finally my parents, uncles and aunts. Surprisingly, Mirth's name wasn't displayed there.

"This school is as old as my great-grandparents," I whispered quietly. Glancing at my phone, I quickly hurried to class. Maths class. Just as I walked in. My eyes landed on the girl from yesterday. But beside her was a boy I haven't seen yet. He has brown hair and light brown hazel eyes.

"He's a Wasian. Also a Hapa," a girl beside me whispered. I turned to her feeling my interest spike higher than my heart rate. She has shiny blonde curls tied in a frizzy bun and bright blue eyes.

"What are their names?" I asked quietly. She smiled slightly.

"Lily and Kenji. Best friends since forever. Never separated. Always glued together. You'll rarely see any of them by themselves without each other," she answered laughing silently.

"Also, Lily is the fastest and best track-running captain. She doesn't cause trouble on Thursdays. The troubles she caused all started when she started this school. It's very questioning. But this is how it is," the girl informed. She held out her hand before me.

"My name's Maya. Co-captain of cheerleading," I placed my hand in hers.

"The name's Misty. New student," I replied shaking her hand slightly. She smiled brightly.

"You're popular on your first day after our so-called captain of cheerleading ran into you," she spoke lowly. I raised my brows.

"So-called?"

"Yeah. Our real captain's younger sister. A spoilt brat. Not all cheerleaders are bratty. Only the girl from yesterday who bumped into you," Maya explained.

"Ah," I nodded my head thoughtfully. Maya smiled warmly.

"If you need any help. Feel free to ask me and my cheerleading gang. We're all good to help," she offered. I smiled thankfully.

"Thanks."

The next day, came just as fast as the first day. Friday. I slipped back on my nike. Mirth passed me a curious glance which I ignored. The school came into view and just like the early two days, I strolled into the school. People noticed but said nothing turning back to talk to their friends. I waved to Maya who grinned. I entered my locker's combination and placed all my books into my bag before closing the locker. I leisurely strolled into the library. The librarian nodded in greeting and I took out a science-fiction book. Orion Lost. I looked around the area to find a space to sit. To my utmost surprise, most of the seats were filled with many students. The only seat I see available is Lily and Kenji's table. The two sat close together. Kenji has his head on Lily's shoulder as they flipped through a book. I nervously approached the table and they looked up at the same time.
