Lord Shiva is a Demon Lord. He is the Demon Lord of Fire. He came upon Cielo by chance, discovering that he came from an unknown race he imprisoned Cielo for four years in his Domain in the realm of Demons. While in his custody Cielo was tortured because he wanted to control Cielo like a puppet.
He also gave Cielo a Demon soul shaped like a seed which became a demonic plant inside his consciousness. It's sealed though. When Cielo breaks the seal he transforms into his demonic form. See description in book 1 chapter 32*
