Scenario:

Prequal to previous oneshot Stars Re-unite

3rd Person PoV~

"We'll meet again, Katsuragi." Riku spoke with a smirk on his face as he looked down the small distance between them, holding out his hand.

"I'm counting on it, Itsusa." Maki replied, grasping the boys hand and shaking lightly before turning and putting an arm over Tomas shoulder, walking away.

"I'm quiting Soft Ball Tennis." Maki said shortly at their final practice of his second year of middle school.

"What?" Confused screams came out of all his team mates and friends, unbelieving that the prodigy would do so.

"You heard me. My mother's gone. My father's dead. Sho can't look after me, he can barely support himself. I'm moving and I'm getting adopted by a family in Miyagi. The Kageyamas, there's a really good middle school and highschool there, but they don't have soft tennis, so I either stop playing sport or play a different one. Sorry." He said nothing else as he dropped his tennis bag, and took his visor off, placing them in a locker before leaving.

No one else said a word as he left, in too much shock to believe that was really happening.

"I can't do this anymore." Riku spoke quietly at the dinner table that same night.

"What was that?" His mother asked calmly, none of them had heard what he said.

"I said, I can't do this anymore. Soft Tennis, I hate not being able to go anywhere cause I get bombarded by people. Shinjo Minami beat us in the last game we played, I promised Katsuragi that the next time we saw each other we'd beat them but they beat us. And I can't live in this house anymore. You're always fighting, and I just can't. I've already asked a friend, he's letting me move in with him and go to his school. I'm changing my name aswell. I can't do this anymore." His mother and brother were shocked at his words. They both knew he hated the fighting but they didn't think it was that bad.

"Will you at least tell us where you're going, who you're going to live with?" His mother said after a few moments of silence.

"It's a small town called Miyagi, and it's Kindaichi Yuutaro, if you want to find me my name's going to be Kunimi Akira. Just don't show up at my school." His family sighed knowing there was no changing his mind.

"When are you leaving?" His brother asked tentatively, worried for his older sibling.

"Tomorrow."

"I'm Miwa Kageyama! I'm gonna be your new sister!" The girl who Maki now knew as Miwa yelled out excitedly, making the boy flinch a little.

"I'm Kazuyo, Miwas grandfather. I hope you'll feel welcome in our little family." The old man was far calmer than his granddaughter. Maki simply nodded his head in response not sure what to say.

"There's a few legal documents we need to get out of the way before you can go. First of all, Maki, would you like to change your name?" The boys eyes widened as he looked up.

"Please." He said quietly, turning to Kazuyo. "Is it okay if my last names the same as yours? I don't want people to connect my name to my parents."

Kazuyo smiled down at the boy, nodding his head, not saying anything, just giving him a warm reassuring smile.
