The three sheep followed silently behind their shepherd through the clinical corridors of the NI building. No one dared speak or move other than the rhythmic tap tap tap of overpriced shoes on marble floors. Butterflies dances in their stomachs except it felt more like their wings were made of razors than lacy membranes. Something definitely wasn’t right, and the cool chill the businessmen had felt after their last deal had manifested into a burning ice bath. They thought nothing of it until Chris Scott had summoned them for a meeting.
The doors flew open, and Mr Scott walked in powerfully. The CEO’s already in the room stood quickly until invited to sit down, fearing their lives if they showed disrespect. William, Robert and Giovanni perched tense on their seats behind Chris’ chair. They all sat.
“Grey’s Banks is ours; the previous owner is dead with no relatives; our companies are the richest they have ever been. So, I ask this, why am I not happy?” Scott boomed across the table
It took a minute for the confused guests to realise the question was not rhetorical. The boss pointed at one of the brave few who raised their hands.
“Because there’s still no coffee machine on the third floor?” she muttered quietly, earning a giggle from her fellow colleagues.
Chris was not giggling.
“Which company are you representing ma’am?” he asked politely.
“Delvoye Industries, Sir.”
“Robert, remove all funding from Delvoye Industries and take them off of our email list, we won’t be doing business with them again.”
The lady whimpered and gasped before slowly removing herself from the room.
Whispered echoed around the table while Scott oversaw Roberts petty task.
“That is all, this meeting is over. Clearly you all cannot be trusted to take this seriously so you may leave... now.”
The CEO’s scurried like rodents out of the meeting room, back to fester in their own struggling businesses. They wouldn’t be profiting if it wasn’t for NI’s funding.
William, Robert and Giovanni followed their boss once again down the hollow hallways. As they walked, Chris spoke, “Bad things are coming boys. We’ve got to be ready when they do.”
