Chris drove up to the street where the house party was, with Peter. Chris parked Peter's van right across from the house, as they got out to check the site of the party. Chris and Peter gazed their eyes on the crowd of people hanging outside the house, with red solo cups in their hands.
"Well, here we are." Chris said, while he tucked his arm around Peter's shoulder. Peter looked around the place with a curious and concerned expression, and asked, "Is this what normies do in their free time?"
Chris then shrugged his shoulders. "I mean, it's not something I would do all the time." Chris replied. "But it's nice to go to a party every once in a while."
"It looks like a bunch of college jerks getting drunk, playing pointless cup games over ear piercingly loud music." Peter responded, then scoffed.
"C'mon." Chris said, as he gestured his head toward the house. "Let's go. I'll introduce you to my friends." Chris and Peter walked across the street, and approached the crowd.
As the two men entered the crowd, Peter's eyes analyzed the place, as he curiously turned his head back and forth, up and down. Chris and Peter walked up the stairs of the house, as they were approached by a young man in a white polo shirt with a backwards baseball cap in the doorway. "You guys know someone who lives here?" The man asked, as he stopped Chris and Peter, and held his hand up.
"Yeah, my friend James invited me over." Chris said. The man gave Chris a confused look. "James? James who?" The man asked.
"James Harrington." Chris replied. The man nodded, turned his head, and yelled out, "Hey, James! Come over here!"
Another man in a blue tank top and a black backwards snapback, with a red solo cup in his hand, approached the man in the doorway.
"Yo, what's up?" James asked the man.
"This guy here is claiming he knows you." The man replied, as he pointed to Chris.
James looked over to Chris, and said, "Yeah, that's my boy, Chris." He leaned over and gave Chris a dap and a fist bump.
"James!" Chris shouted, then gave a dap and a fist bump back. "What's up, man?" Chris asked enthusiastically. Peter's expression then changed into an annoyed and jealous look, while he put his hood up and looked down to the side.
"Man, I'm just glad to see that you showed up to the party." James responded, with an excited tone. "Well, you know I would never turn down your invitation." Chris replied.
"Alright, boys. You're free to come into the house." The man told Chris and Peter, and then walked away.
Chris and Peter walked into the house with James. "Oh, James. This is my friend, Peter." Chris said to James, as he turned his head toward Peter, and added, "Peter, this is my friend, James." James nodded and waved his hand to Peter.
"He's one of my Army buddies. We go way back." Chris explained.
"Hey! It's a pleasure to meet you. " James said to Peter, while he reached his hand out. Peter stared at James for a quick second, and then slowly reached over to grab James' hand to greet him back. Peter squeezed James' hand as hard as he could, until James pulled away.
James' smile turned into a small look of surprise, and asked, "Is something wrong here?"
"H-He's just a little shy." Chris quickly replied. "It's nothing personal, dude."
James nodded his head in understanding. "Alright, alright." James responded, and then added, "But just so you know, the whole gang's here. And we're playing beer pong this time." James told Chris, as he laid his hand on Chris' shoulder.
