It took me months to get back on a normal sleeping schedule. I didn't get much sleep at night, and when I did I could only dream about him. School was even harder. I wasn't popular, but I had a lot of friends. Though now it seemed none of them would really talk to me. It was awkward, and that was just my friends. Other people wouldn't even look at me. Only one person treated me like nothing ever happened, and didn't ask question I didn't want to answer like other people. She was my best friend since preschool. Selena was in marshland visiting her uncle for two weeks and didn't know my dad had passed, or that I even missed a week and a half of school. Of course when I told her she asked if I wanted to talk about it, and when I said no she just went back to normal life. She didn't look at me like a kicked puppy or some alien from Mars. At home things were chaotic. I didn't remember mom being so grouchy and moody when she was pregnant before. She would be laughing at a show or something one moment and crying and throwing a fit not 2 seconds later. Ya, most pregnant women where like this, but mom usually stayed calm. I knew she was acting weird because she had no one to help her. Well, I mean she had us, but compared to dad we might as well have been dirt. Lexi had moved into my room. She claimed it was because our new sibling would need a room, but the baby wasn't due for two more months and it could just stay in moms room. Though she never said, I knew she really moved because she felt alone, and to be honest, I felt the same way. It was hard to fall asleep knowing someone you were so close to was gone. One night I had finally fallen asleep at a normal time when mom came into my room shouting. The baby was one its way. I called a cab and told Lexi to watch the triplets. Luckily it was a weekend so I could stay with mom at the hospital until bedtime. When the cab pulled up we got in right away not wasting a moment. My healthy baby brother was born on July 4, 2477 at 5:30 am. When mom started to doze off I took a cab to our house and took the girls back to the hospital. Once mom woke up it was time to discuss names. Genevieve was sad it wasn't a girl so that meant no rainbows, lucky him. I was the one who decided almost immediately that his name should be Charlie James, after dad. Everyone agreed with no hesitation. We all took turns holding Charlie. That week we spent the night sleeping in another hospital room close to mom. Once we went home things kinda started to go back to normal. Of course it sucked dad wasn't there to see his little boy as he grew up, but I had a feeling he was watching from above. Lexi took the curtesy to teach Charlie his first word, cookies. For weeks he would only say cookies. It was super annoying. "Charlie what do you want for dinner?" "Cookies!" "Charlie do you want to watch Mickey mouse?" "Cookies!" Ok it was actually kinda cute. A little bit after Charlie took his first steps, maybe a month or so, mom started to date again. None of us were really too happy but after a few meaningless dates she found a really nice guy. His name was Adrian Miller. He had two twin daughters in the triplets class who were so sweet and kind. The triplets loved to play with them and so did Charlie. Adrian's wife left them about three years after Riley and Sam were born. After only a year of dating, Adrian proposed, and mom didn't hesitate to say yes. The wedding was small and quiet, but very beautiful. Lexi and I were moms maid of honors and the triplets and twins were flower girls. Yep thats right. We had five flower girls. Charlie was the ring bear, and only dropped the pillow with the rings on it twice. I had gotten kinda close with Adrian, and I was excited to no longer have to be the "man" of the house. However I didn't think I'd be able to ever call him dad. That name was reserved for one man and one man only.
