Luigi got diagnosed with the Brain Cancer type "Terminal 7", ending on his death some years before. But, what happened? Here's the full analysis.
Luigi was a brother of Mario, living on Brooklyn, the young plumbers had to go to several calls, as they had to work for money on tough conditions. Their poor service made them not the most called of the state, but a decent company to call to. But one day at work, Luigi had an accident: a huge hit on his head. As soon as Mario figured it out, they rushed to the hospital. The year? 1999. Mario waited almost 2 hours to know the diagnose: his brother got cancer. Luigi got worse on the following years, and in 2009, Mario tried to help Luigi: He got him on an Mental Asylum. The year is 2010, and Luigi's been for there 1 whole year. But Luigi has had enough. He leaves, what Luigi interpretates as the "Bowser Castle", heads out the castle, being a little bit injured and killing some guards and innocent pacients. Luigi escapes on a pipe. A pan, guilty of the previous crimes, is lost on the pipes. Down on the sewers, Luigi runs away, going over some security fences leaves on another pipe down on the ocean. He is underwater, resulting on himself trying to get an explosive to explode an underwater volcano to impulse him up. He goes on oxygen tanks which have holes on them to breathe, and once he explodes the explosive he goes up to the ocean, close to the ground. He is on a carnival now. He swims to it, steals another pan and kills more officers that are on the hunt for him. Luigi steals a gun from one of the deceased officers and starts shooting and killing, resulting on a massacre. Luigi runs away on the mouth of the subway. He goes through "a level" probably he's just going through the wagons, until he exits the subway and enters Brooklyn. He searches for his brother's house, whilst killing more innocent "toads and koopas", presumed to be citizens and police officers until he finds a white door leading to his home. Luigi enters, goes up some stairs and enters home. Mario's not home, though. There's a note on the kitchen that reads the following:
"Luigi,I understand. I never should had gone that far, but I had to. You know I had after what you did. I know more than anybody that you couldn't help it, and I'm sorry. I'm taking for granted you're the first to find this note. Heard your escape on the radio last night and I could barely believe it. The fridge should have food for a while. I know I promised BBQ'ing by the end of the month but there's been a change at plans: you were supposed to get better and you clearly haven't. I want you to promise me one thing: Don't do anything stupid and follow our rules like normal, like before. One exception: if someone's at the door, promise me you'll open up for them. I'm going on a business trip and you need all the help you can get. Finally - don't EVER go into my room. Take care lil' bro, I'll be home soon.
Mario."
In the background, El Mañana, by Gorillaz, can be heard being displayed by the radio. Luigi however, disobeys Mario's note and searches for the room key, which is below a book on the living room. Whilst doing this, he explores his home, entering his own room and saying "Mario says this is a photo of me, but I don't believe him". Presumably, the Original Luigi before the Terminal 7. Then, Luigi enters Mario's room, and the door closes by itself & Luigi runs through a long, black and empty corridor. Then the image of Mario hanging himself up the ceiling is made visible. Luigi sees another note on the computer, and an audio file too. The note reads the next:
"My name is Mario, brother to Luigi.
I'm a plumber, and a poor one at that. I'm also dead, and my brother might not be by the time anyone reads this. If you're a concerned neighbor or just a very stubborn mailman, I apologize for your inevitable therapy following the discovery of my corpse. If you're Luigi's "caretakers" or the police or swat or whatever else search team is going after him: fuck you.
The hollow shell once known as my brother - god bless him - escaped the building you were supposed to keep him locked into this morning. As if your mistreatment and neglect wasn't enough, I honestly thought your disgusting medical bills would be my main and only concern.
You have time and time again fucked me so hard that you robebd me of my future. Everything. I cannot not deal with this torture anymore. Wherever you are, I love you Peach. Sorry it had to go this way. The system will pay for Luigi's well being, no one else. Goodbye world."
Luigi goes back to the corridor to see a disturbing image of himself being dismembered. He goes into the hole his organs are being ripped & thrown to and we get teletransported to an image of Luigi going to "Peach's Castle", which results to be a house in the middle of nowhere. Luigi enters, inspects and goes down the basement, where he can see a skeleton in a bathtub, and some torture items. He then suffers a mental breakdown. On this we can see him killing all types of "enemies", Toads, Koopas, Goombas, Waluigi, Wario, etc. Supposed to be doctors, guards & pacients/citizens, whilst re-visiting all the rooms of the asylum. Then, Luigi parkours onto a telephone cabin, where you can see Mario & Peach crying Luigi's death. Finally, back to the past, a late memory "saved as" Memory 1-1, Time 1999, Luigi is the character of his favourite game, Super Mario Bros, on a glitched & unstable version, which could represent Luigi's mind. At the end of all, we can see Luigi & Mario with DR. Mario, which tells the brothers: "Sorry Mario, but your brother has Brain Cancer!". In this moment, the death sprite of Luigi bounces up and it all ends there. The theory is that Luigi, that day, got a mental breakdown resulting on a coma, where he lived all of this action, resulting to the scene we mentioned before: Mario & Peach crying Luigi's death at his funeral.
