A few hours later, Jin and Sophie reached the city that would change their lives forever. Jin stopped at a copy shop and printed out the notarial document that Catherine had sent them over email.
"Okay, we are all set. Did you buy the tickets?" Jin asked his future wife when he got back into the car.
"Yes, the plane leaves in three hours." Sophie showed him the online boarding cards.
"Great. Next step..."
"Are you sure?" Sophie asked Jin, her eyes full of insecurity. "You know you don't have to..."
"Stop it! Nothing in this world could bring me to leave you here. Also, why do you think that I do not want this from the bottom of my heart? I know that this moment would have come eventually ... no, it would have come surely. It just happens to happen a bit sooner." Jin leaned over the middle console and sealed his lips over Sophie's.

"So, what chapel do you want to go to?" The engine roared to life as they drove to the city center.
"Can we go to this one?" Sophie pointed to a small chapel that almost looked like a real church.
"Of course. There is just one thing ... Can we have Elvis marry us?" Sophie giggled as Jin started to imitate the king of Rock and Roll.
"Whatever you want!" She told him as she held his hand, still giggling like a schoolgirl.

Jin was surprised at how easy it was for them to do all the formalities. They even asked Sophie if she wanted to try on one of the dresses from the back. But she refused, wanting to stay in the flower dress she had been wearing since this morning.
Jin beamed, whispering: "You look beautiful no matter what you wear."
Sophie could not hide the blush on her face when he added: "But I prefer it when you wear nothing at all."

The ceremony was simple but nonetheless beautiful, leaving them only fifteen minutes later with the papers they so dearly needed for Sophie to be able to get on the plane with Jin.
On their way to the airport, Jin could not take his eyes from the ring that decorated now Sophie's finger. It was a simple silver ring that he had bought at the chapel.
"When the time is right, I will marry you the right way. With all our friends by our side as well as the most beautiful flowers and the most expensive ring you could ever imagine on your finger."
Sophie looked over at Jin, who was grinning from ear to ear.
"I don't need that. If I have you with me, that is enough." She lifted his hand and put a kiss on top of it before he did the same to hers.

Sophie was nervous when they arrived at the airport. This was the last but most crucial step on her journey to freedom. They walked to the check-in and put the luggage on the scale.
"Two people?" The woman behind the counter asked the couple.
Sophie was hanging on Jin's arm, feeling her emotions getting the best out of her.
"Yes, just me and my wife." Jin could not stop smiling when he realized that from now on, Sophie was to stay by his side as the woman he loved, his wife.
The passenger assistant looked over the papers, then up to the couple.
"Your wife does not have a passport or ID card?"
"No, we are sorry. She lost her papers a few days ago. That is why we have the document from the notary." Jin pointed at the documents in her hands.
"Hmmm, okay." The woman labeled the pieces of baggage and gave the couple their boarding passes and identification papers, wishing them a safe flight.

Jin sighed as his hand tightened around Sophie's as they walked to security. He could feel that she was shaking next to him.
"It will be fine. Soon, you will be leaving all of this behind." He reassured her with a smile and a kiss on her forehead.
Security was not a significant problem as they explained the same thing to the agent as they did to the passenger assistant at the check-in counter.

Sophie snuggled in Jin's embrace as they waited for their flight to be called for boarding. Slowly she began to realize that this might all become true.
"Soso!" Sophie jumped up in fear. Police officers were surrounding the couple.
"Grab that man!" Sophie's father shouted when two officers got a hold of Jin, putting him to the floor.
"Get off of him!" Sophie yelled as she started to hit the officers.
