"Zack...", you whispered. "Do you really need to do this?". Silence was so loud, Zack didnt said a word but to only smile. "Look. Trust me, I can do this alone. Just take care of Cloud.", he slowly and protectively lead you behind a rock formation.

"I'll be back in a jiffy. Trust me. I love you...remember that", he smiles as he placed a kiss on your forehead while you trying your best to help Cloud with his mako poisoning. Zack noticed the ambush but didnt want you to get involved in battle. "But I can help! Please, Zack...", you begged but he only moves away.

"Boy oh boy...the price of freedom is steep", he said. That's the last sentence you heard before he charges. The sound of Zack constant grunting while attacking, how his breathing picks up every swing he does. You want to help but he told you to stay.

"Zack...?", you called out — Soon after...he collapse after the army wearing him down. The image of him laying on the ground, covered in dirt and grim. It haunts you 'till this day. "Oh no no no...", you whimpered running towards him, leaving Cloud alone. Even thou you would trip and fall, you collapse onto your knees as he spares his remaining time with you.

"Zack...zack no. Not now oh no...I need you! I really really need you! Dont leave just yet. I can help! I'll look for something!", you frantically said. Looking through your stuffs for potions or so to help him heal but nothing was there. "Fuck...", you sobbed holding onto his hand.

"Hey...hey. Look at me...", he whispered softly as his hand searching for your cheek. Your tears falling close under his eyes. "Dont cry...Im here im fine...I wont be gone forever i promise", he whispered. You frantically holding onto his hand placing gentle kisses on his palm, not caring the dirt and blood staining his palm. "Its okay...", he whispered. 'No its not' you mentally yelled.

"Hey baby look at me...", he whispered. "My time has come. Its my fate. I cant cheat death...", he softly ran his finger onto your hair moving your forehead placing against his. "Darling...don't get away right now...", you choked. "Shhh...i'll be there i promise. No matter where you go, where you are...I'll be there...looking over and keeping you from harms away...", he whispered.

You cry harder that his grip on the thread of life is slipping as the claws of death pulling him away. Zack used the last ounces of his strength and pulled out a silver locket from his pocket and held your hand while the silver locket burried in both of you grasps. "You and me...always...forever...", he smiles one last time, a tear sliding down his eyes while telling you something to pass a message to Cloud before you both share your last kiss.

Soon his lips went cold. Cold as ice, his mako eyes went lifeless and his skin went pale. You cry your heart out. Death has finally welcome Zack with open arms. 'ITS NOT FAIR!!' you mentally screamed. Soon your hand pulled away from his weak hand as you look at the silver locket while sobbing mess. You opened as it revealed a picture of you both.

"Hey, Zack. If we wont be working for Shinra anymore...I would love to stay in a small cottage, just the two of us. No work, no distractions...just us both", you said. Zack looks at you and smiles. "Im sure it'll happen. I promise it will...Afterall, we are meant to be arent we?", he whispered at the last sentence before stealing a kiss from you. Soon he fishes out his cellphone and takes a picture of the both of you.

"You should better make a copy of that..", you playfully scolded. "Oh im already planning on that darling.", he chuckled before kissing you again.

"(Y/n)...? Zack.....?!", Cloud soon woke up after his mako poisoning. He rushed towards you and your dead lover but you stopped him. "Dont move anywhere close!! Because of you, I would've helped him! If its not because of you and your stupid mako poisoning he would still be alive!!!", you yelled your anger towards Cloud. The cries of agony filling the silence. Cloud cautiously walk towards you and Zack as he also cries. He didnt even get to say his goodbyes to Zack.

"Zack wanted to told you that...and i quote: My honor... My dreams... They're yours now. You'll be... My living legacy.", you choked on your sob on the last word. Soon Cloud inherited Zack's Buster Sword. Cloud looks at you as you sobbed. He didnt mind your anger outburst earlier, you have the right to be mad at him.

Soon giving Zack a proper burial, you took his gloves on his right hand and wore it. What's left of Zack is the silver locket and his glove. With a heavy heart, you promised to avenge him.

"(Y/n)...are you sure about this?", Aerith whispered in your ear. "I...iam...", you coughed. You have been infected with the geostigma and keep on having the same flashbacks during that incident. "Alright...", Aerith's voice soon fade away. You were in a battlefield between Sephiroth's Remnants but you collapse as the geostigma has successfully infected you.

Laying on the ground while looking at the sky. The same place where Zack stood and died. You came across with the Remnants there to visit Zack but it seems like, fate has now decided to take you now. Happily, you welcome death as you held the silver locket with your gloved right palm that was once Zack's. The claws of Death successfully brings you away too.

"(Y/n). Wakey wakey", a voice called out. Once your eyes flutter open, there was Zack as he smiles. Tears stinging as you lay still on the grassy ground. A tear escaped as you smile, "Did I came too late?", you finally spoke out. "Too early...but it doesnt matter since we both are finally together again", he whispered as he welcomes you with a kiss.

Soon exploring the place, there stood a small cottage. "Just the two of us now...(Y/n)", Zack whispered, bringing you into a hug. "As I said...you and me...always forever", he said and softly kissed you. Oh how nice it is to be with him again. Forever.
