"Let's be friends.",Sunghoon's gaze linked with hers,"You and me."
Haewon's lips curled to form a smile,"Sure!",she extended her hand to him,"Let's be friends."
He held back his smile, accepting her hand.
"Let's go back to class now.",she rose to her feet.
He quietly nodded , following her closely.
Sunghoon was surprised with his own action. Did he himself approach someone, especially a girl to become his friend? He never made the first move. It were always those crazy girls who drooled over him. He never found anyone interesting but only until he met her, Kang Haewon.
There was something about her which bewitched him.
If Sunghoon needed anything in his life, it was just a person on whom he could rely on. After his mother's death , his dad had married another lady. Ever since then, his step brother received all the love and care and he just received taunts from his own father everyday.
// SCHOOL BREAK //
"I will be waiting at the park.",Sunghoon eyed her.
She nodded.
"Wear something casual and thick socks and shoes."
She hummed .
"Okay . Bye !"
He stood on his skateboard moving down the sloppy road.
"So cool!",she smiled as his figure slowly disappeared from her sight.
She felt a sudden touch around her arms making her startled.
"Haewon."
"Heeseung. You scared me!"
He chuckled,"Did I?"
She scanned through the crowd of students ,"Where is Sinyoung?"
"She has a family dinner to attend. So , she left early."
Haewon lowered her gaze staring at the ground ,"No wonder you are here.",she mumbled under her breath.
"Huh?"
She shook her head,"...Will you walk me home ?"
"Of course.",he ruffled her hair,"Shall we go shopping?"
"Right now?"
He grinned,"Spicy rice cake treat ?"
She giggled,"I am in!"
"Let's go!",both of them ran towards the Gamdong street being overwhelmed with happiness.

"THE RICE CAKES HERE ARE ALWAYS TASTY!!",she reminisced about the flavour, taking a huge bite of her cheesy and spicy rice cakes.
"I know right. Do you remember? We met here...for the first time.",he let out a soft chuckle ,"You came here to buy rice cakes but didn't have enough money."
She beamed ,"...and you offered to pay for me."
"Idiot. You told me that you left the house permanently because your mom had scolded you that day."
"THAT'S WHY I DIDN'T HAVE MONEY!",she laughed, eventually pausing to admire his side profile.
Although they were so young during their first encounter, she somehow felt that this boy was special. Ever since then, she considered Heeseung to be her guardian angel.
After passing elementary school , they surprisingly took admission in the same middle and high schools and she found herself falling for him even more.
Everything about him seemed perfect to her.
He moved his head towards her,"Is there something on my face?"
She shook her head, feeling her cheeks flush red.
He wiped off the sauce from near her lips,"You are still a messy eater."
Her heart skipped a beat.
"Let's go to that shop.",he pointed towards their left, rising from his seat.
Haewon got hold of her bag and followed him into the shop, still trying to calm her heartbeats.
Heeseung scanned through the store and picked a beret placing it over her head.
She flashed a smile,"Woah , so pretty!"
He chuckled,"Yeah. It will look good on Sinyoung."
Her smile began to fade.
"I will buy this for her.",he spoke scanning through other items.
"Oh.",she bit her lower lip trying to control her tears.
It's always Sinyoung for him.
"Do you need anything?"
She shook her head,"It's fine.",she stepped back,"Heeseung...I actually had to meet Sunghoon. Bye!"
"Sunghoon...?",he blinked,"Are you close to him?"
"Yes.",turning her back to him , she walked out from the store holding her skateboard close to her chest.
She rushed towards the Hadong park , with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Sunghoon sat on the bench waiting for his new friend to arrive.
He stood on his feet, spotting her at a distance.
"Haewon!",he waved at her.
She buried her face on his chest, hugging him tight causing Sunghoon to get startled.
"He is so dumb. Heeseung...he is so stupid.",she could physically feel her heart ache.
Sunghoon raised his hands, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to his warmth.
